Here is a BOM for May, that i thought we could try. It looks easy and beautiful. I'm just a beginner quilter, but i'm sure i can offer this...go easy on me :)

http://www.compuquilt.com/blockimg/2005Blocks/Buttercup.htm

This is a flower block, done log cabin style, from compu quilt. It is presented as a 6" paper-pieced block. Our BOM's are 12" blocks...so...if you like you can make four 6" blocks, to make a 12" block, and that would be very pretty.

Another way would be to make the whole pattern larger, to make one 12" block, that would be really nice too.

This is a paper-pieced pattern. To get the paper-pieced pattern, click on the link above, then click on the word "templates". :)

I will also give directions below, in a few mins, how to make this pattern without paper-piecing. Have fun everyone :)

Ok, here goes. Here are some directions for those that want to make this pattern without using paper-piecing. I chose to make and give directions for one 12" block. The following photo gives you an idea how one 12" block will look when finished. The block is made with 2 1/2" strips, and it will be put together log cabin style.

Ok, in photo 1, look at top right hand corner of photo. Sew together the two small 2 1/2" squares, finger press. Now add the orange 2 1/2" by 4 1/2" strip, and finger press. Now, all the other strips will be sewn on in this manner too, but first, the other strips need to be completed. Look at photo 2. (This is my way of doing easy triangles) Lay down a rectangular 2 1/2"strip, right side down, take a white 2 1/2 square, that has been ironed, corner to corner, into a triangle, and lay it down exactly on top of the end of the strip. Sew corner to corner, right on the fold, to make a perfect triangle. Lay down your ruler, as in the photo, and trim excess fabric. Flip triangle over, like in photo 3. Now, that all your strips have been created, these strips can be added to ytour block now too. Enjoy and good luck :)

PS These beautiful fabrics were a gift from CathyM to me, thank you Cathy, you are so very special, so i wanted to use your fabrics to showcase this pretty block :)

mgrhs, the squares for the half triangles, are also 2 1/2 inch blocks...they are folded on the diagonal, and sewn on the fold line :)
