Yes, Yes, Yes. There are 3 different ways the book has to do these blocks...Rotary cutting and then sewing the pieces together.. traditionally hand piecing them and then paper piecing them. first I would have you read up on paper piecing and do a few very simple blocks.. there are template pattern pieces for each block in the book that you can download and sew the block that way. ..
A lot of us were newbies as far as pping goes when we did the first FWS quiltalong. once you get the hang of it, it becomes easier to do.. PPing a block gives the block for the most part perfect points and intersections.. There are quite a few websites that have free tutorials for pping.. Get the book, the 99 letters are worth the read by itself..
help is always available here on the board as well as on this new journey. Don't be afraid to try..

It is doable with this group; I have learned so much from this group. Although some of us hate the 'Y' seams, with this group you can choose to do an easier pattern and we all cheer each other onward. Ask any question you like too, and someone with answer it with a smile

Tempting. I have had the book for months and gave up on it. The templates just don't seem to work for so many blocks. I found similar if not exact patterns on line with good instructions and made a few but to me at least it was more frustrating than challenging! May have to give it a go again with this group.

Are the blocks different from the original Farmer's Wife quilts? I have the original book and haven't used it yet.

Yes, dd, this is a different book. With Honchey and ohters who are very helpful, you may/can find this one is doable.

Hi, Sewcheryl -- Judging from the pictures in the book, not counting the white sashing, it looks like there are about equal amounts of solid and 30's fabric.
