I have steps 1-3 done, all the triangles cut for part 5 and a few of each color of the Ohio stars. I am not going to do the red strings for part 4, as I mentioned earlier, I am not a fan of the string blocks. Seeing the final reveal helped me decide that the first set of string blocks are important to the pattern but I don't think the red ones add as much as they add to the busyness to me. So I will be happy with red triangles. I am going to spend a week with my brother on Jan 9 as he recovers from open heart surgery( he is doing amazingly well), and will take Orca Bay and the sewing machine with me and hope to get it all done then. Will post some pics soon also. Bonnie sure does like busy borders!

Love the quilt! I'm so glad I started this mystery. This will be my first completed quilt in 2012.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!! May this year give us all peace and good health and maybe some money too!

Can't wait to start putting this quilt together so I can see my finished quilt. Never thought I could do such a challenge with all the cutting and pressing and sewing. But when you see the finish you will all be glad you kept going on it.

Can't wait to see everyones beautiful quilts.

Carolyn

It is a really pretty quilt. Since it is so busy and I haven't started the string blocks, I think I'll just use plain triangles and squares for those. It make sense to do the string blocks if you have that many strings/small scraps to use up, but I'd just have to cut something else down anyway, including yardage. I'll save my strings for another project. Happy New Year of sewing everybody!

Ayyye yiiiieeee yieeeeee!
So I've done quite a bit of sewing on orca bay, though I'm far from done. I've started trying to piece it together and I'm starting to think I'm too dumb to do points. Good grief. Nothing is lining up for me. I am really REALLY trying to do quarter inch seams. The points are being cut off....some of my blocks (particularly pt 7) isn't measuring right.
I'm to the point of frustration with it

Default My Orca Bay Mystery Quilt

Ladies, I just put up my design wall with my mystery quilt on it. Please don' t look at my mistakes just the way the colors blend. I am tickle pick with the way it came out. I still have two more stars that need to go on the sides. My design way isn't big enough. Picture to follow!
