I think we should have our own domain name, and get away from the blogspot stuff. I have a blog on my own domain name and it's only $9.69 a year to own it!

The author of the Dear Jane book referred to the quilts inspired by the Jane A. Stickle book as "baby janes"

so that may also be "off limits"

How about something like

QBB's Cyber Journey with Jane...

yes, its cheap thats why its something we could totally do.

the downside to owning it is all the admin work falls onto us.

i'm assuming QBB refers to this forum - my concerns with having a connection with this place in the title is

1) admin here has a vested interest merely by using the name. this will allow him to voice issues, good or bad, about what we can and can not say and do on the blog.

2) others places (quilt shops, magazines, other blogs/forums) might be hesitant to promote us since QBB would have such a large footprint on the blog. it really wouldn't leave much room for others to sponsor/assist in any way.

I have a friend who does this web work as her job... and she's also a quilter/crafter/great person. I'm preeeeeeeeeetty sure if I mention this project to her, she would get us in line and off the ground.

i'm well versed in running a website and a forum and i'm sure other people involved in this project are too.

it doesn't suck up a lot of time but its still something that we have to deal with from time to time.

I have a question will we still post and follow on this site or would we have to go to another site as well as this one. If I get too involved I won't get any quilting done. My sister and a school class friend are after me to be on facebook. I don't have time or rather I don't want to make the time. Just keeping up with this board is sometimes taxing. Like most of you I have a full time job plus a long commute each day, animals to care for, lessons to prepare (teach a children's Sunday class and an adult class) and the list goes on and any free time I have I want to spend quilting. Your idea is great, don't get me wrong, I'm just hoping the meat of the party stays on this board. I'll be your cheering section.

Then how about "The Cyber Jane Project" - no connection to anyone!

BlueChicken 12-23-2009 12:46 PM

I like the Cyber Jane title too.

I agree with a "stand alone" page, but either in blogspot or on it's own website is fine. Both will require some administration, but klue can always get a couple of people to help her.

It won't be like this thread, with questions, general chatter, and bouncing of ideas, etc. It will be more of a journal, with those who want to doing an entry every now and then about how they're going. This thread would still be here, and still be used a lot.
