Good for you. I am sure that Jane would have slept under hers.

Some of my blocks are held together by a wing and a prayer...I'm nervous about using it!! LOL

Well, it won't fall apart in the first five minutes, Esq., plus when you quilt it, that will give it a lot of strength. No one little patch will take much strain after quilting, will it?

I can't think about what to do with mine, when it is still only about half done and in lots of little bits, I am just going to concentrate on getting the blocks done first.

Half done is GREAT Sara - keep going, you will get there.

thanks! My beautiful son who is supposed to be at Uni is coming home just about every weekend at the moment and in 3 weeks is home for the summer, so it's back to my bedroom for the sewing. I just can't keep packing it away and getting it back home again. I love seeing him so often but it is playing havoc with my regime!

It's nice that he wants to come home every weekend, so many don't do they? Not quite so good if all he wants is his washing done though, and if 'his' room had become your sewing room then you will feel cramped. Don't let it get you down, sew when you can and don't fret, you will get there in the end. One of the reasons I have done mine so quickly is that I live on my own, but that isn't always great.

Lesley...I was dreaming about Jane last night and I was thinking that I really really want to find the right back and sashing for it so I can start the quilting on it as you've done. Then I started thinking...oh no...I've trimmed ALL my blocks/tri's to the exact right size already....I am planning to do my quilting on the machine (because of carpal tunnel) I'd love to hand quilt it, but I just don't think I could get it done....Anyway, now I'm worried about distortion of the block..or are these so small that it won't really draw it up? Did you have any problems like that?

Ladies can I just say how inspirational your work has been to me? I have been wanting to make a Dear Jane for some time now, but I don't have the funds to make it yet. I got a $25 GC for Amazon from MyPoints yesterday, so I am going to use that to buy the software when the GC comes in (about 6 weeks). I am sure it will take me a year to be able to buy all the fabric needed for this quilt, but it's so lovely, it'll be worth the wait!! I would like to make my quilt with a different fabric for each block if I can. How big of pieces do you think I will need to ensure I have enough for any block I make?

I keep going back and forth on what colors/fabrics to use, but since my husband wants to start reenacting the civil war (We do Revolutionary War right now, see my avatar), I think I am going to use civil war repros and hand piece it, maybe even while we are reenacting!! How cool to work on this quilt while dressed as Jane herself would have been? I know it won't be easy (or cheap) to collect that many civil war prints, but I've already waited this long to make the quilt!

Anywho, thanks everyone for all your inspiration, I so so so wish I could be making blocks with you right now, but it'll be great to have all your threads to look at when I am finally able to start mine!

Rachael, Bravo for you! It will be great fun to work on the quilt by hand while you are dressed in costume! Hee.hee!!! You know you can start anytime...just collect a few FE or FQ and you are off! You can get 2 blocks from a FQ ...easily...so maybe make a decision on background...get some of that going and then just dive in with a few fabrics at a time. That way it won't seem so expensive either.
