1-AUGUST-2014 POM Directions & Discussion's.

Hi Everyone,

We are going to make a project from "Christmas in July" so we can all get a head start on the upcoming holiday's.

It's AUGUST already & time for the Project of the Month to be posted. I have gifts for Christmas on my mind, as I made this Rice Bag for "The Christmas In July" project of the month theme. While I was cutting my fabric's, I cut out enough blocks for two rice bags, so I have another nice gift selection all done for the holiday's. I hope everyone is as excited about this idea as I am. Enjoy & get to making your Christmas in July project for August.

I remembered that my grandparents and parents once had bags filled with salt. They are heated and then put the puns were painful place.
But the bag with rice sounds much better.
I wonder however if time does not make butterflies rice.

Nope, it doesn't. Been using them for years and the rice stays the same. Wonderful heat, right where you need it.

Caution: first time you heat it up time it and find out if that is a comfortable heat for you. Sometimes 1 or 2 minutes in one person's microwave is too hot and another's not hot enough. Personally, I find that 1 minute in our micro if I am placing it on bare skin is warm enough. If I am placing it on clothing, then 2 minutes is wonderful.

My DGK warm theirs up each night before bed and take it to bed with them. Keeps them warm and snuggy until they fall asleep. It is a great comfort when they have tummy aches too.

Thanks, Sulabug! These might work for the fellas...the gals are getting hand embroidered tea towels this year! :-) Problem solved.

ok...dumb question here...the directions say 8 flannel squares and 2 cotton squares. Is that right or is it 8 flannel and 8 cotton squares?

This was also confusing to me too. It really means 8 flannel squares of two different colors. I never did find a use for the cotton squares. By the way, there is never a dumb question, just remember that. Good Luck making your rice bag. We will be anxious to see a photo of your finished project when you are all done.
