Thanks for the link. I made 12 of these for Christmas. Once you make the first one they go really fast. I gave a few to each of my kids. I gave my DH a few too. We love them. We have a bad habit of eating in front of the TV in the living room and they are great for that. We also have soup at least once a week in the winter. I plan on making a bunch more for this Christmas.

I made about 24 at Christmas time, and 6 just last week. I just quilt an "X" from corner to corner (as if I was doing a rag quilt) instead of stippling. And I don't draw any lines, just fold and measure. Be sure to measure from the edge of the fabric, not the edge of the batting. I mark 3/4" from the fold, and 2-1/4" from the edge. You don't need to backstitch from the edge, but do backstitch at the point at the fold.
Be sure to use 100% cotton batting. And I have read where some have caught fire, but that's because they were left in the microwave too long. I don't put one in the microwave for over 4 minutes, and it usually only takes 2-3 minutes to warm something up. And they are good for protecting your hands from cold foods (like ice cream), too.
