Moonrise, What a cute little kitten. That was no easy task raising him so hats off to you for your good heart. Name?? Oh, and I love your scrappy scraps too.

Thanks! :) His name has changed several times since we found him, but his "official" name is Lucky Little Biscuit. DH wanted to name him Lucky, because he was lucky I heard him out there crying, but Lucky sounds to me more like a dog's name. The Little Biscuit part came from the tomcat that we THINK is his father. A few months before the kitten was born, there was a stray tomcat roaming the neighborhood. He was a short, but very muscular cat with a head that looked too big for his body. Ever heard of a "cat head biscuit"? Well, we started calling him Biscuit because of his big ol' head. :D So I had the idea of naming the kitten Little Biscuit after his (probable) dad, who apparently moved on to another area because he disappeared. DH and I compromised on the kitten's name, and it turned into Lucky Little Biscuit.

However ...

I'm notorious when it comes to making up nicknames, and even when he was 2 days old, I nicknamed him Monster. It was supposed to be funny, like calling a dainty little chihuahua a tough-sounding name like Brutus or Spike.

Well, as you can guess, Monster ended up being the name that stuck. :D The vet thought it was hilarious. He's been quite the celebrity at the vet's office, considering that very few kittens are bottle-fed, and that he's so well-behaved despite his "monstrous" name. :) Being a kitten, he does have his "monster" moments, though, especially he's in play mode and my other (middle-aged) cats aren't in the mood for his "childish" kitten games! LOL! :p (They do get along surprisingly well, actually.)

Gymsuits. my first 6 yrs went to Catholic school, so no gym.
but in 7 &8 we had to wear a one pc. the shorts were gold, and the top was baggy and
gold and white stripes with the school name. like we didn;t know where we were.it had a rounded corner collar too.
in the pool, anything went, and I mean anything! scuba diving and synchronized swimming was the only one they wanted one pc bathing suit for.

I had the same suit in junior high. I hated them.

mimiknoxtaylor 01-21-2015 12:57 AM

M-Fay, I love your controled scrappy!
These are unique and I've loved everyone I've seen & have gotten inspired to do clue #1-the 4 patches- in so creative ways. But that will have to be another time.
also, those terrible gym uniforms- we had those when I was in junior high 45 years ago. In highschool I was lucky & missed gym due to disability-lol.

Can anyone tell me how to put a quote or verse that automatically goes on your postings?

QltrSue, I'm glad you like my country! there are marvelous places to go and things to see. I live in Madrid and if you return send me a PM!.
M-fay you need to go "Settings" in the right corner of the Board and then go to "edit signature" to write your choice phrase and must fill the checkbox down the postbox to show the signature under your post, too!.
Hope my english don't be gibberish :o

Sadiemae 01-21-2015 02:51 AM

Marta, your English is wonderful.:)

QltrSue 01-21-2015 04:23 AM

Thank you kindly, Marta. I will do so, but it may be a while before we get back there. Wish my Spanish was as good as your English! :)

I really need to see this done. I searched the utube for some examples of all the suggestions that were listed with postage stamps and crumbs, and can't find what I am looking for. Guess I don't ask for the right stuff.

Some of you must have gone to the same school I did!! Hated the medium blue gym suit! Hated the shower business at the end, too...then go to the next class in a hurry...not fun. At all. And remember the plastic sling type chairs that were horrid to sit in? Lots of good conversations on this train.

Pam H 01-21-2015 05:03 AM

My daughter wore the red gym suit in middle school and that was 2003-2006!

dd 01-21-2015 05:41 AM

We had the gym suits in middle school but high school they finally decided we just needed clothes to change into. Was told we had to wear white socks for gym or we would get blood poison from the dyes in the socks. They wear all colors now. Hated having swimming 1st period. Get dressed, do make-up and hair, go to school, have swimming and try to do it all again with 50 other girls so we could go to 2nd period. Or once I had it last period and would walk home with wet hair. finally got out of gym in jr & sr yrs. If you took enough business classes they let you out of gym and sr yr I had work study so no gym then either. So glad to be out of school.

Finished my triangles, just waiting for Sat. Put some orange-cranberry danish in the club car.

m-fay 01-21-2015 06:27 AM

Thank you Marta, I did that, now to see if I did it right

m-fay 01-21-2015 06:29 AM

I'll try again

quiltingnd 01-21-2015 06:36 AM

Here are my clue 1 and 2. Two was hard for me. I really didn't have very many medium lights.

jolo 01-21-2015 06:42 AM

Ours had elastic waists, baggy bottoms, collars the whole bit. Our colors were Maroon and white.lol We were wolverines

Gayle's Quilts 01-21-2015 06:51 AM

Quiltingnd, Your blocks are going to look great. I to didn't have a lot of lights

Honchey 01-21-2015 07:17 AM

I'm still hunting for lights ..I like the layouts pictured...

My gym suit was called a romper..the same blue shown here..I wore the same suit for 6 years!..I finally filled it out by the time graduation came around and we did have a pool..I was very active in sports & gymnastics and got letters for it...DH & DS were always touting about the sports they played and would say to me "what do you know about it"? until I took out my letters. they never asked again..:) Gym was my favorite time of day.

m-fay you got it!

And your quote is very true. Beautiful.

lawsonmugs 01-21-2015 08:41 AM

M-fay love the quote. Everyone is worried about their scraps. They all look wonderful That's what is great about scrappy. Ok I was a teen in the sixties in San Francisco,Cal. Remember the big hair and Cher type black eyeliner.LOL. I also had the med blue one piece gym suit like shown in the picture, except it also had elastic in the legs not just the waist. I had to embroider my name on the left chest pocket and also on the stupid white bobby socks. Also had to write my name on my white tennis shoes. Like someone is going to steel that ugly stuff.LOL It was awful to play ball and get sweaty then have to shower with 30 other girls and try to fix your hair out to there and put make-up back on for the next class. I remember when pantyhose finally were made. No more seams on the backs of stockings and no more garter belts. Now guys love them. They probably liked them back then too but they didn't have to wear them. This was before you could wear pants or long skirts to school.

Me too, I was so glad when I got to high school and we wore navy blue shorts and white blouses. My junior high gym suit also had the elastic in the legs.

I loved PE also Honchey, I was very athletic!

Emma S 01-21-2015 09:12 AM

Had to share in the walk down memory lane. We didn't have to wear the one piece, thank goodness. I have a very long body and I know from my experiences with one piece bathing suits what that feels like. We had two piece snap front outfits. They came in maroon, blue and the sickest yellow (looked like it had been washed with something black). Guess what color I had? They were assigned by year in school, so I wore that color for six years. They had elastic bloomer legs that were supposed to tuck under the leg hem. The progression through the six years was really funny. Most of us wore the same set for all the years. Usually started out in 7th grade being shapeless and oversized, needless to say by 12th grade they were anything but oversized. What started out being modest, by graduation was anything but.

Why is it only Wednesday.................grrrrr.................. . Guess what ! We are going to "Road to California" on Friday.....My DD gave me wristband/tickets for the whole weekend for Christmas and now the weekend is almost here....She is driving and we have room reservations at the hotel that is right next to the convention center, so we can walk over, and back for a real lunch (not convention center food) and back again for more quilt displays and longarm machines and fabric.............sigh.......only thing is Saturday morning I will not have my computer so I hope the hotel has a computer room....or my DD brings her I-thingy..... I have all the Clue#1 and #2 waiting to be joined by #3 but they will have to wait till late Sunday or early Monday! If DD has the I-thingy we will try to send pictures.

Good for you Honchey.
Now FB's not a big deal with me...but love Cyclone BB.. My Baseball player GS still can not fathom Gma getting into a catcher's position let alone throw a softball across to second.
No HS girls athletics in my home state it so we played on town leagues. Guess my school was a little more progressive white button up shirts and red shorts. Red always had to be washed separate or everything was pink....

Windblown 01-21-2015 12:16 PM

Sunlitensmiles, What a great Christmas gift from your DD! enjoy every minute of it. Hopefully you can show us some photos.

dirty1mom 01-21-2015 12:42 PM

I am done with clues #1 and #2. Did not trim dogears yet. Glad I caught this train, but quite a few calories in the dining car. I brought some iced tea if you are interested. Waiting sort of patiently for Saturday.

Mary you hit it right on with the type of gym suit. Mine was like that too with elastic in the legs of the medium blue snap up suits. We had to have our names on them too. I thought that was funny. I was living in Chicago during those years.

Amazing what a common thread those gym suits were. I already described mine and can only be thankful that we didn't have the elastic legs. OMG. They would have hit right at the fattest part of my leg. I guess thing can always be worse.

Yep, waiting for Saturday, which is also Visit Your Local Quilt Store Day, and mine is having a sale of 25% off everything. Guess I'd better go look. Here's clue #2.

This is quite striking! You caught up quickly...must have been sewing non-stop! Doesn't seem the neck is holding you back from quilting...not much holds any of us up when it comes to sewing; at least that's how it seems.:p

Are you going to join us and be caboose to Honchey's caboose? I have to do clue #2 yet--still stuck in the office. You must have lots of scraps, too. G

Thanks Vicki. I made a cat quilt for a friend for a house warming present and got a lot of cat fabric from http://www.felinedrive.com/

JuneBillie 01-21-2015 09:07 PM

Whitepine that is some pretty cat fabric.

I am also just getting to clue 2 due to hopping aboard almost when it was time for clue 2. I enjoy it all though. My first time, and I love it.

JuneBillie 01-21-2015 10:12 PM

Judy, I am lagging some, but I am persistent so I am working all I can. I have had a few things hold me up. This is my first time, but from what I have seen some putting together I think it is going to be a great quilt with great surprises.

mom-6 01-21-2015 11:31 PM

Finally got my clue 1 squares cut and my light and medium light fabrics set aside. Doing Christmas fabrics for the darks, medium darks and medium lights. Was only able to find 12 of the medium lights so will have to double up on them. And having to just go to regular stash for the actual lights which I will also be doubling up on. Glad to finally get started on this.
