I'm confused. I sewed 2 pcs together that are 2 1/2 x 4 1/2". This does not g1ve me a 4 1/2 " square. I'll go read the directions again.

Joining in on #9. Had fun on the last train ride, my first. Piecing the back for #8 and it will be off to be quilted.

Here are mine so far. I don't have all of them finished but wanted to show what colors I am using. I have a lot of purple left from my DGD's quilt and thought it would be perfect for this one.

Oh my Karen, that purple is fantastic!!!!! Where did you get that?
|
OK I think I'm just going to be a Lookie Lou this train trip but will help to keep the food car well stocked LOL. Just dropped off warm chocolate chip bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and whip cream!! All calories have been removed LOL!! I will save all clues so I can make this at a later time. Thanks Judy for all your time you put into these train rides!
|
Even though I haven't finished #8, I'm still in. We had a very busy couple of months, quiet now so I hope to keep up with this train ride. Thanks Judy!
|
Jan, I got that purple fabric at Joann's.

everyone, when cutting yardage, how much does it take to make the blocks. at first, I thought it was a fat qutr since that was the size Judy asked for. but now I see we need a bigger piece. I need to go shop tomorrow, so how much do I need? |
Just get a yard, Lynnie! Did one set after a bit of confusion. I love using up my scraps!!

http://www.marshalldrygoods.com/prod.../marbleicious/ I used several of them in this quilt to border the center squares of each block: http://www.quiltingboard.com/blogs/f...lt-b12157.html |

Finally caught the train, was finishing #8 and it is done. I had some other batiks blocks started for a quilt that was in the same colors so just used it as a backing. Only had to add 1 more row to make it the right size, lucked out. Love the way this one turned out, thanks Judy for the ride. Now I need to find a "constant " for this one.

I just finished them! Not sure how I ended up with 64 units, guess I'm meant to make a larger project. Not exactly scrappy, but I had white and black fat quarters I've been wanting to use.
|
m-fay, thank you for inviting me to the train ride! I am on board!
I hope it's ok to share this here, Cinnamon Monkey Bread 20 unbaked frozen dinner rolls 1 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup dry instant vanilla pudding mix 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/3 cup melted butter Lightly grease a bundt or tube pan. Place frozen rolls in pan and sprinkle with sugar, pudding mix and cinnamon. Pour butter over top. Cover with a clean damp cloth and leave overnight to rise. Next morning bake at 350 for 25 minutes, until golden brown. Turn rolls onto plate and enjoy.

Here is another Monkey Bread Recipe:
Monkey Bread 4 small cans biscuits (or 2 large cans) 2/3 cup butter 2 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 4 tsp water 1 cup nuts, chopped You can use 4 small cans or 2 16 oz cans biscuits. Mix and melt together butter, vanilla, brown sugar, water and nuts. Add biscuit pieces and stir until coated with mixture. Pour into greased bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes then invert onto serving plate. |

Sunlitensmiles pretty blocks love the block under them. Here is a quick picture of mine. They are a dark blue not black and a mix of lights that show up darker than they really are. Off to a good start so far.

Just got finished pulling 2 1/2" lights from my strip bin and decided on my dark constant! Will use this as a beginner/ender project while putting together my Grand Illusion! |
Golly Gee Willakers Miss Judy! I leave y'all alone for a few days and ya done run up 11 pages on me.lol Finally caught up on my reading now I need to look for fabric. Oh my, where to start?
|
Yes, raining here as well. It is supposed to turn to ice tonight and sleet/freezing rain/snow for the next couple of days.. yuck! That will bring everything to a screeching halt. Looks to me like a good time to quilt :D
|
Judy,
Can you clarify something for me? The lights can be scrappy, correct? So if my lights this week are 2.5" strips I'm using up, the lights next week can be different fabric that I might have bigger pieces of? Also, the dark constant, will we need any BIG pieces of this? strips? When you say 18-20" by WOF, that's just to get yardage, correct? I just want to make sure I'm going to have enough of the dark fabric. I'm pretty sure I will, but don't want to get too far into this and find out I was wrong. Thanks!<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/4731abff/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/4731abff/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script> |

Well, I'm on the train and brought some fresh fruit and coffee. I've printed the instructions but NEED to finish another project before I start on this one in a couple of days. But that's OK because it'll make the week seem shorter! :D
Jaba, your #8 is beautiful! |

Here are my step 1, made 30 so I hope I can do 5 x 6 blocks. had enough TOT black, but had to use 2 lights - a white TOT and a cream TOT.
|
OK, I haven't ever ridden this train, but I am going to hop on. I might just be rubbernecking and taking down instructions for a later date, or I might be just trailing along behind the rest of you.
I am in the middle of purging my stash and have to get things put back away before I can start actually cutting and piecing. I promise not to hit the club car till I've earned the right!! But I will breathe deeply of those wonderful aromas! |
((Debbie)) hugs, sorry for your loss ((Debbie))
Linda welcome aboard, help yourself to treats, come sit a spell and contemplate the choice of constant dark and light assorted fabrics for these starting clue number one blocks. |
"contemplate the constant dark choice"--sounds profound and a little scary!
|
oops better change that....ok, fixed it...I think......thank you AngelinaNR for bringing that to my attention !
constant dark or dark constant assorted light or light assorted constant meaning this fabric will be the one darkest used in this quilt top assorted meaning various light fabrics used in the light fabric placement in this quilt top |
NO! I like it--just needs a little Darth Vadar icon!
