Deecee 10-09-2011 11:41 AM

Love the colours that I see on my monitor.

sandpat 10-09-2011 04:20 PM

Oh gosh Flossy....your scrolls are nigh on to perfect!  OK, I guess I need to come sit with you to learn how to do that! Love your block...this one was hard for me...looks like you sailed through it!

JudyG 10-09-2011 06:06 PM

Patti, on one of you blocks, I recall you mentioning fraying. I just got a dvd of Ellie Sinkiewiecz (not sure of the spelling of that one). She said if you're concerned about an innie point fraying, you should drag your needle through a glue stick before you turn the pointy part. She said it helps a lot to keep things from fraying. After dragging your needle through the glue, you turn your inner point and make sure to drag the glue off the needle onto your fabric. Sounds like a slick trick.

sandpat 10-10-2011 04:36 AM

Hmmmmm....that does sound like a cool trick! And to think I have a glue stick right here beside me and didn't think of doing that! Thanks!

Thank you everyone for lovely coments.

Sandpat, it was hard for me too, however, I followed Kathy's tutorial on how to do them and it helps alot.

Beautiful block Flossy, the colours look great on my screen too and perfect scrolls.

candi 10-16-2011 02:32 PM

Ladies, your blocks are just perfect, scrolls and all.

I am not too fond of my block, but hubby said we'll just cover the one I don't like with a pillow  actually the long scroll wasn't bad, but the other thingies I struggled with. Maybe I'll follow your lead and add some more bobbin work to "hide" some issues, lol.

LOL, but he's just trying to be helpful :XD:

Thanks all for the kind words. And Pat, I don't think any of your blocks need pillows.

Crfty I see you found your way here.

Beautiful block and I now see a black background.

sandpat 10-20-2011 02:07 PM

Karen, its just gorgeous!

Fabric Galore 10-20-2011 05:31 PM

Wow Karen! You may be new to AOTH but you are definitely not a beginner with applique. Your block is a knock out. I'm so glad you decided to join us. I'll be looking for more of your blocks.

crftyldy 10-20-2011 06:59 PM

I have done a couple applique projects, but this is the most detailed one. I almost wasn't going to do AOTH but in looking for more info on it I found you guys and decided to give it a go. So thanks everyone.

Wow, what a beauty! Great work.

Deecee 10-22-2011 01:27 PM

Great start. Love your corner touches.

JudyG 10-22-2011 01:51 PM

Beautiful block, Maryb. What is the little extra on the embroidery? Is that thicker embroidery or did you applique part of that?

Its an embroidery stitch on my machine with tiny leaves on it. I like to use the stitches when ever I can. I have used several of them on my blocks so far. I am using all scraps of fabric but I chose to use the same color thread for the yellow/gold embroidery on all of them to help tie it together.
