Next press the seam and fold over the batting, covering over the excess. Draw a pencil line along the overlapping line and cut along this line [ATTACH=CONFIG]122915[/ATTACH] like so. Ducky, yes 1/4" along the edge of the two pieces you have just joined together. In other words the two blocks. You are joing them with a 1/4" seam.
