Beautiful blocks this month - I know we are only at the start of the month but I'm sure we'll have plenty more gorgeous ones to come :-D

Here are my 2 for the month of april "pretty florals" & "asian florals". Went with a paper piecing pattern - just slightly different.

abi 04-02-2010 04:02 AM

Martina, another awesome job. Great choice or fabric. All of the blocks for April are very nicely done and the colors are great! It would be very hard to name a favorite. Hope mine turns out as good.

JudyG 04-03-2010 06:39 AM

Beautiful block PatriceJ. I love your fabrics.

Dear Jane Size???? Pretty Block! Hey PatriceJ are you doing a mini BOM?

wvdek 04-03-2010 07:18 AM

Very nice Patrice.

dannypanny 04-03-2010 07:46 AM

hi I am feeling sooo jealous... I have just printed the directions and I cannot start until after Easter. Busy baking and cooking for tomorrow's breakfast and lunch. Not doing too much as I am still bruised and sore when the medication wears off.

Wishing you all a peaceful Easter Sunday. So glad I joined this group.... All I get is positive feedback everytime I post something... Makes me feel soooo good. ciao

i decided to make this year's blocks in Jane size and add them to the Dear Jane i'm also making. it'll add up to just one extra row.

when the air over the USA turns blue, you'll know i've gone back to remake the Jan and Feb blocks.

wvdek 04-03-2010 07:22 PM

sewnique- just go to top of page, click on HOME, click on Block of the Month(BOM), scroll down until you see teh titles for the appropriate month and year you are looking for. There will be two titles almost teh same. One is teh original post about the block and pattern, the other is where you place your cpmpleted block pictures.

I like how you did the middle part coming out. What is a Dear Jane size? I need to get busy on my April blocks. Love seeing what the others picked as colors.

I asked the same question. What is Dear Jane size? I am looking forward seeing your block

patricej 04-04-2010 10:30 AM

Dear Jane refers to the quilt made during the Civil War by Jane Stickle. she made her blocks 4-1/2" finished. between the square blocks in the main body of the quilt, and the triangles for the border, there are 225 of the little suckers.

i don't know if she was nuts before she started, but i know i WILL be by the time i'm done.

Martina 04-04-2010 10:54 AM

OH WOW...no that I checked this out, I must say this is one of the most beautiful quilts I ever seen. After I get myself more practice, I may just have to try this myself.

brushandthimble 04-04-2010 02:27 PM

I was took a class with Brenda Papadakis (sp), made or worked on 3? blocks. Not for me thanks.

PatriceJ, We would love to see your blocks, I admire and love the ones I have seen.

butterflywing 04-04-2010 04:18 PM

i just noticed that not all the points are going the same way. for this exercise, does that matter?

oksewglad 04-04-2010 06:21 PM

Pretty rosebuds all in a row!! Mine are cut now to sew.

i don't see why it should matter. real flowers aren't perfect, either. but they're still pretty. :-)

Sewnique 04-05-2010 04:10 AM

Patrice, I love the way your points are. Everyone is unique in their own way. Would not change it. Would make a beautiful whole quilt top like that! Bootsie

Well my guests don't sleep in this room but they always check it out, so I guess I better sweep up all the threads, and make it look like I do something other than quilt LOL

dannypanny 04-05-2010 07:31 AM

I finished my April block late last night. I am so excited I am finally ahead of everything. But my poor seam rippers really had a big job. I just could not get the points right. My expensive 100$ cotton fabric looks like a scrap. Will only re do block if it really gets on my nerves.

Unfortunately cannot post picture. My two year old granddaughter dropped my camera and the telelens is stuck and I cannot do anything about it. Have to bring it in for repairs.,,. Little monster loves taking photographs, but this time she forgot to place strap round her wrist. My fault I should have checked. Poor little mite she was so upset.

I hope you all had a great and blessed Easter. ciao ciao

butterflywing 04-05-2010 07:54 AM

i love watching these topics that grow out of one pattern. sometimes it's hard to beiieve the differences in the way people see the same thing. they're all so different, i'd love to see them all in one quilt. mine.

sewjoyce 04-05-2010 08:08 AM

I've been working on this BOM -- my seam ripper is getting a work out and my nerves are getting frazzled...the ways things are going, it might be done by May

Hey sewjoyce I had the same thing.... my seam rippers gave up and went home.... As I said my expensive fabric. looks like a scrap piece of fabric.. (CORRECTION it is 100% and not 100$) My block is all squanky (can't think of another word!!!) but I am leaving it till I have the inclination to re do it. But the funny thing is that the pattern was so EASY and I still could not get the flipping points right. ciao
