Baltimore block of month--so far
1 Attachment(s)
I changed a few things around on my block. I didn't really like the little flowers so I decided to finish my inner block 18 inches, and my first border with bigger flowers finished at 6 inches. Then I put the shark tooth border around to finish at 3. So I will have to make more squares since 12 x 3 is 36 and that is what I have right now. But this works for me.
Now I have to figure out how to put a picture on this.
I love it-- it's beautiful. I've been contemplating that first border with the teeny flowers and was trying to think of an alternative. After seeing yours I may do something with a larger flower. I'm doing mine by hand.

Beautiful!

This is really beautiful!
WOW. That looks great! Wonderful job.
Very pretty!

Thanks, I really tried to do something with the little flowers but they seemed out of place with all the other flowers in the quilt. I put the 6.5 inch blocks together and then started with the vine and then added the leaves and lastly the flowers. It worked out well. The flowers could have been a little smaller but I am happy with them. With all the borders I will need to have three blocks on each side instead of two, but that shouldn't matter.

Looking Good ! I really want to try this one of these days :)
You do beautiful applique! The whole block is fantastic! Thanks for sharing
This is from the Baltimre Block of the month right here on the board. The pictures are easy and I am basically doing raw edge. I am basting the applique on the blocks with elmers glue and heat and so everything will wash out. I am using stablilizer that washes out.
Very nice job!
Your block is absolutely gorgeous!
This is a very special piece - thanks for sharing!
Very pretty. I always admire when people have the vision to change things around and they turn out so pretty.
Very pretty. Love Baltimore quilts. I am working on Rose of Sharon which is very similar but maybe a bit less intricate.
Thank you for all your nice comments. When I get some of the regular blocks attached, I will take another picture. This has been so much fun to work on, that is for sure.
Beautiful! I like the changes you made...
Thank you, I was hoping I hadn't offended anyone on the block of the month. Those little ones, just wouldn't do it, however I am going to have to have 4 more blocks going around the new changes. I might have to duplicate a couple of them.
love it glad you did our own thing
I wish i had made mine larger like yours but it's too late now so I just have to keep on stitching the little flowers you did a great job with yours :)

I was wondering if a row of flying geese would look out of place with this quilt around the border of the little flowers? I found a video for one seam flying geese and am dying to make use of it .

Personally, I was thinking of putting flying geese instead of saw tooth for an edge but didn't have the patience. That flying geese tutorial rocks that Ricky Tims did. We still need another border around the outer side of the Baltimore so I will keep that in mind. My suggestion Capucine, is make a few of them, and line them up. If you like them, use it. I love the traditional blocks we are making but I also love adding something that say's "holly's quilt" to it too.

Thank you for your advise I think i will have to put all the blocks on the floor to see what it will look like and take it from there but I will take your advise and make a row of flying geese I have some Batik left to do borders with, just a matter of working out the size for each border:)

I just finished all but quilting and binding.....

Hi mshollysd! Your quilt looks beautiful I love the borders don't forget to post when it's all done and quilted :)
I will, I have to "put it on the rack" as I call it, and it has to speak to me. I am not sure how I want to quilt it, except probably echoing. I have a 9 inch throat to my Juki so I am really limited on what can be done. Thanks for the compliment and thank you for the QE5 website. It worked wonderfully.
BTW my teenage daughters favorite part of it was the flowers on the border. I just sewed them around the yellow and the other part of them stick out. LOL
