Sharon is out and about frolicking and cavorting in celebration of a wedding. She asked me to post her pick.

Pinwheel Star: http://mccallsquilting.com/qb/pattern_1199/

it's a wonderful block. the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

for those checking out our Blocks of the Month for the first time:
- you don't have to be on a list to play along. the list is of the quilters who've asked for a turn picking a block. if you'd like to be added, send a PM to Boo.
- there is absolutely no charge. you can keep or do as you please with any of the blocks you make.
- you can make all the blocks or just the ones you like. we all love seeing photos of each others' blocks, but you don't have to post if you don't want to.
- there are only a few rules:
1. Have Fun
2. Don't stress over deadlines. there are none.
3. Have Fun
4. The instructions are a guide. put your blocks together in any size, using any method that works for you
5. HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN!!!

The file i've attached is just a list of all the blocks since March (when we started).

Thanks for more point practice I can sure use it.

kathy 05-15-2007 08:11 AM

Patrice, when I try to open this it goes to windows and can't open, if I try to download it, it tells me to insert the disk... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knot Sew 05-15-2007 08:23 AM

All I got is a repeat of the old blocks, NO new  I know it will reappear..with our wizzard oh Patrice :-) OOps gotta look for the new one

patricej 05-15-2007 08:35 AM

kathy, i don't have a clue to the "insert disk" thing, unless you're accidentally trying to save it to a floppy disk and don't have one in the drive.

ruth, the new block is on page 2 of the Beauties file. however, i was SUPPOSED to have included the link in the first post.

apparently everything i tried to do this morning i did wrong, wrong, wrong.

as soon as i finishe writing this, i will add the link.

i am sorry, sorry, sorry and really, really, sorry to have cause so much confusion. from now on ... not posting anything til i've had at least 2 cups of morning coffee.

kathy 05-15-2007 11:35 AM

I got it! it was me!!!!!!!!!!! BIG surprise huh? LOL

patricej 05-15-2007 12:44 PM

i don't have any room to talk. i wasn't exactly the sharpest pencil in the box today, either.

Okay, here is my block. I had to do it fast and get it out ofthe way, so I can continue with my quilt. I really hate piecing points, I rip out so much it is a wonder it survives. But I must say I get better after each one so I will keep struggling.

Nice job, and no one can tell you hurried or ripped! :-)

Debbie Murry 05-16-2007 09:05 AM

Beautifull job. Love red, white and blue theme. I saw your fab with it blown up. You got a name for it so I can maybe find it here.

ceannastahr 05-16-2007 09:22 AM

great job on the block

SandraJennings 05-16-2007 09:32 AM

I like it! Wonderful!

jessiesmom 05-16-2007 04:24 PM

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. You gotta love digital photos, they hide a lot. But i'm getting there.

jessiesmom 05-16-2007 04:25 PM

Debbie, I buy most of my fabric at Wal-Mart, and sometimes Joann's when I have a coupon.

ceannastahr 05-16-2007 04:35 PM

I too buy about 3/4 of my fabric at WM and the rest at Joanns Sometimes I find a few deals at bearpawquilting.com

patricej 05-16-2007 05:15 PM

First Stop WalMart
2d Stop Hancock's
3d Stop ... Dunno. Joann's I guess, then online

Mary, for having done so quickly something you don't like you sure did turn out a really gorgeous block. you don't give yourself enough credit.

:P

Well I have to say I have learned a lot from all of you seasoned quilters and you have encouraged me to keep trying.

I have always been a perfectionist and not happy until whatever I was doing was perfect. I would keep at it until it was perfect. But now that I am old and tired I let a lot of things slide.

I am amazed that I can sew at all. The main thing I have learned is I have to follow the instructions to a T and try to be careful about cutting and pressing.
Oh did I mention I am very impatient and like to get things done fast.
A big part of my problem, but if I take my time and follow instructions, I do ok.
I just love this quilting board, everyone is so knowledgeable and very willing to help solve problem areas. I have learned a lot just reading answers to other peoples questions.

Many thanks to all you seasoned artists willing to share with us newbies.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks Patrice, you know how hard it is to frolic and cavort with a cast on? WHEW, I got Tired out! It was a beaytiful wedding though, she was the most beautiful bride ever!!! Just cause she's the daughter I never had....

Thank you Patrice for getting my pick out!! You de best!! KATHY HOPE IT WASN'T THE WAY i SENT THE LINK TO Patrice....

Jessiesmom your work is beautiful!!!! I need all the practice I can get with points, so be mad at me everyone if you aren't crazy about this block. I saw so many possibilities in it for colors....

Thanks friend Patrice!!

patricej 05-17-2007 06:12 PM

it wasn't you. it was Kathy. (don't tell anybody but she's been hittin' the bottle again. ;-))

i like that block. can't wait to see the rest of the different interpretations.

and you're very welcome, of course. any time.

kathy 05-18-2007 03:40 AM

and when (or if) i sober up i'll be mad that you told.

Norah 05-18-2007 05:05 AM

I call that a good team effort. We would be sunk around here without each other. Patrice comes to the rescue more that you all know. She saved my bacon as I was sick as a dog when it was my time to post. She got all of the patterns ready for posting and did a great job. She's the best.

danna738 05-18-2007 08:08 AM

I just found out our local Wal-Mart is one of the stores eliminating the craft section. They are already done to nothing usable, and will not be getting any more fabric in. The worst part -- they won't even be reducing the fabric in stock, it will be shipped to another Wal-Mart.

Shirley65 05-20-2007 05:43 PM

I would like to have the pattern for the 2 blocks of the month. How many blocks are there and how big. I would like to try and make a block a monthe. Could you please send it to me.
[email protected] :-)

ceannastahr 05-20-2007 06:41 PM

Welcome to the board Shirley I emailed your request. Have fun. Hope to see you post and join in the fun. A few of us are a bit crazy but we're realy harmlees.

true enough. flaky as a box of cereal. but harmless.

i promise. :P

ceannastahr 05-21-2007 04:09 AM

What do you mean sometimes. Its most of the time but it just wouldn't feel like home without them.

jessiesmom 05-21-2007 05:09 AM

Amen to that!! Mary

Same down here in Florida. Was there this morning, buying some fabric of course, and after the remodeling is done, no more fabric.

jessiesmom 05-21-2007 02:19 PM

What part of Florida? I live in Vero Beach and as far as I know they are still there. I better go check.

mary705 05-21-2007 04:13 PM

I'm in Pinellas Park, just north of St. Petersburg. Was at the Super Walmart this morning, and that is what I was told.
