I am new at this so here goes the dumb question--Block-of-the-month--one blockl a month, right? But when I checked the list it looked like we would have 2 blocks each month. Please explain for someone who is new to this.

Hi BDor, it started out to be one block per month, then it was decided to make one on the first of month then the 15th. .

I love the fact that you all are such postive thinkers. I think one block will be doing great!!

the beauty of our "system" is that nobody has to make any specific number of blocks by any specific deadline. do the ones you want to do. skip the ones you want to skip. it's all good.

I have never done a bom before either. When you do a block for each month, do you put them together in one quilt? Or is it just a new block that you make and then eventually use it in a quilt?

I would suggest making them for one quilt. I started in October last year and did about six blocks with my scraps/stash. Nothing matches! LOL! I guess I could make six different pillow tops.

But now I've decided to join some of the others and use similar fabrics so the blocks can be incorporated into a sampler quilt. Check out some of the November or December BOM pictures. You'll see what I'm talking about. Just gorgeous!

you are already in the Block of the Month. :-)

anybody who visits the board - even those who aren't registered members of the board - is welcome to make the blocks. those who are registered members may also post pictures of the blocks they make and are eligible to get on the list for a turn to pick the block.

if you would like to get in line to pick a block, please let me know. i'd be very happy to add you to the list.

Welcome!! :P

Chele....make a sampler quilt out of those blocks that don't match...it works! I made one recently out of some of my BOM blocks and sashed it with one fabric and it brought it all together! Here is a link to my photo:

Here is what I did this week

Its on page 2 of this thread..... go for it....I think that it really makes for a nice quilt!

That is pretty Patsy! I saw that before I was comfortable with sashing! :D I may have to try that with my orphan blocks! Thanks for the reminder.
