I was trying to figure out how to make the block larger without just adding borders. I have decided to paper piece the church and then fuse it onto a 12 1/2 inch square, where I will also be able to fuse a walkway, trees, cross on top, etc. I have to play with the block. At last I can get it past the thinking stage.

I've been working last evening and most of today on my church - using plaid homespuns...have decided to "jump ship" and make the star BOM instead .... too difficult for me to try to get the plaids looking right - not striving for perfect, but just didn't look right no matter how much I played with it. I have a lot of homespuns that I want to use up (I'm on a fabric diet)- so thought I'd have better luck with stars where plaids do not necessarily have to line up. I plan to continue to lurk - everyone is doing a great job - that house quilt will just have to wait for now!
