cher

the blocks look fanstatic!

a few of mine are a hair off but i'll worry about it when its time to put everything together.

the indigo fabric i'm using seems to have a life of its own and shifts in very odd ways when i'm piecing with it.

this is why i'm trying to leave the paper behind the blocks until its time to sew the top together.

i think cotton thread is considered a weaker thread that can break.

there are so many quality cotton threads on the market today that i think this is just a dated problem in todays market place.

I love the million dollar baby! lol It's the perfect name. :-)

I have a confession to make.... I find it REALLY hard to do scrappy, it's just not my thing. :-(
My original plan was to make a scrappy DJ, using the leftovers from quilts I've made, so as well as being colourful it would be kind of nostalgic. And I still love the idea. But I find it REALLY hard to just pick fabrics out of the scrap drawer and make blocks. I've tossed and turned and thought of a million other colour schemes I could do instead of a scrappy one.
But you know what they say.... gotta live life on the edge. Mind you, if doing a scrappy quilt is living on the edge, then perhaps I need to get out more! LOL

So here's my second set of blocks. No promises, I may quit the second set halfway through the year, I'll just see how I go. But it might be a good exercise for me. :-)

The colours are a bit dark again, taken at night.

i love the blocks blue.

i've never been good at the scrappy thing either.

i guess you could say my jane is scrappy but its really not its all the some color red, white, and indigo with with subtle patterns.

I'm surprised at just how hard it is to move out of my comfort zone. It's really been bugging me.

Now I'm determined to do it just to prove to myself I can! lol

And yet I do the scappy with ease. But planning especially something like this with specific colors in certain places or just a few colors would drive me bonkers. Though I will be happy when I do a few more quilts etc so there is more scraps to choose from.

I don't do scrappy or "planned" all that well. I spent a lot of time just picking out fabrics in the color scheme I wanted, and it's somewhat scrappy, since there are soooooo many fabrics and at least 4 colors, bringing in several other shades of green, yellow and spots of others. So, this is probably a convergence of scrappy and planned. I hope it works.

As for you Blue, I know what you mean. But work thru the pain, it'll be worth it as your quilt is put together and you see tons of memories and other quilts inside of it. Consider it sort of a "quilt diary" quilt

Here are my blocks for this week. Having the software to print off the templates is making this sooo much easier to hand piece!
