SURPRISE!!! Posting tonight since tomorrow is my birthday, so this is a birthday present for all of you. Both of my rounds are 6 1/2" unfinished. For this orange and turquoise:
1- 7 1/4" square
4- 3 7/8" squares....this is the fast method of doing flying geese and really accurate, makes 4 at a time. I think you can tell by the photo's and then I did the same thing again with the other color choice. I brought out exactly what I did in the edges of the center medallion. Each unit measures 3 1/2" by 6 1/2", when sewn together 6 1/2" by 6 1/2" unfinished. If you need a 4 1/2" round, cut 1- 5 1/4" sq. and 4- 2 7/8" squares and you will end up with a 4 1/2" unfinished border. There is a complete tutorial on this board for easy flying geese.

For this blue one I added a 1 1/2" strip all around to bring my quilt to 54 1/2" square. Then I decided the colors I wanted to use and cut WOF strips 2 1/2" wide. Press these towards the darks and cut in 2 1/2" sections, sew together to make 9 patch. Hope this gives you an idea or two that perhaps you can use.

Happy Birthday Jabba! Love your first one, wanted to try that "other" method to make flying geese. Looking at this as my motivation. Thanks for all your hard work. Your first one is one of my very favorites. Blue and orange together are yummy.

Happy birthday, Jabba!
Your quilts are so pretty! I love the turquoise print you used for this border! Flying geese are on my to-do list...will try the method you referenced for sure.

Happy Birthday, Jabba. Hope you are having a good one.
Great options today and I have never seen that easy way to do flying geese so can't wait to try. Actually there are also previous options that I wanted to try so choosing isn't getting any easier.

Elizabrat, I hope your moving is going OK. Or at least as OK as moving can possibly be.

Happy Birthday, Jaba. Your quilt is beautiful and thank you for all you have done. I hope you have a great day and many more to come.

My machine is still in the shop. He thought it would have to be pronounced and so I bid on one on ebay. Didn't get it and today he said that he thinks he has figured it out, so Providential that I didn't spend the money on another one. Will just watch and pick up another one cheaply somewhere. Got the old treadle out to see if it can be revived. Not mine and it hasn't been run in YEARS. Of course, broke that little belt the first thing. I just feel so non-productive without my machine. So I have cut out another S&W DP in the meantime.

Can't wait to see everyone's progress.
