Hi Everyone, I think I've finally (almost) caught up. Just when I thought I had, I read a posting this evening that said we are on Blocks 17 & 18 this week. By my count I thought we were on 15 & 16 and they'd be due on the 5th. Whatever - I'll get there. Life has been hectic and I've woefully been playing "catch up" from the very beginning of this project. I couldn't rest until I had ALL my fabrics for ALL the blocks chosen, purchased washed and folded (and a good bit of them cut...not as many as I'd like cut but at least a month ahead). Now I just have to figure out what blocks I'm supposed to be working on. I haven't even had ANY time to read anything on the board since maybe August 10th or so. So tonight I hope to post all my blocks that I've done to date (and I guess I should repeat this message with each week's photo?) Hopefully I can stay with the group & ask questions of the group instead of pulling my own hair out. I am paper piecing and so far I've enjoyed this, even the frustrations that I have caused myself. I'm pretty sure I can be counted as a "convert" to paper piecing. Can't wait until I find time to look at everyone's posted blocks. Cathy in Baltimore County MD

Judy, it's incredible how small you are making these blocks. They are all fantastic! You have great accuracy for such small pieces. Nice work!

I'm sneaking # 7 in here, just finished it up on vacation, so it was hand pieced. No matter how I sew them, I hate HST's.

Very nice blocks-love the background fabric in the second block. Great job!

Grandmother23 01-02-2011 12:24 PM

Thanks Jan. I am trying to be as close as possible to the colors in the book without duplicating fabrics until I go through the 60 or so I have. It is getting a little hard as #16 would look good in colors I have used already, but that is OK. I will stick to my guns!!

#13 was a treat ... NOT!!! I PPd it and had each section together and noticed one patch I'd skipped over. Then, corrected that and put the whole thing together and noticed another one missing!!!! argggghhhhhhh

Thanks for looking!

Honchey 10-23-2011 09:27 AM

Yes, It tested my patience also!! It turned out great.

Thanks!!

Lesson Learned ... I had coded each of the PP sections with letters. I think that the next time I have one with so many pieces that I'll get out my highlighter markers .... might be a bit more obvious!!!

Though I'm not sure even a bolt of lightening would have kept me on track last night! After that I looked for an easy-peasy one and found #71 to complete that set!

I haven't done these yet. But one thing I've learned so far is these blocks are not that easy!! Looking good, QuiltE!

Please join me in this!

Thanks ... I have quite a bit of those greens. Both give some life to the blocks. I think I should find something to help bridge/blend the blues with the greens. Right?

oksewglad 11-07-2011 09:09 AM

I went through the thread and loved watching all those beauties go by. It's fun to see fabrics one has in one's own stash and how others have used those fabrics! And some of the color combinations are just fantastic. Hope to get to these this week.

carolaug 11-09-2011 03:08 AM

these are all so interesting...

QuiltE 11-11-2011 10:25 AM

Ladies ... I'm concluding that the new system did not roll over our previous "watch" flags to ensure we get all subsequent posts. If there is, would someone please let me know how?

I don't want to miss anyone's FWS posts!!!

And ditto to OK ... as always some beauties to view!

QuiltE, after checking all the FWS threads, I had to "subscribe" to at least half of them because, as you noted, it seemed the new system did not convert all of my "watched" topics. But, then, I wasn't getting email notification for some of them on the old Board. So far I seem to be getting notification on each of my subscribed threads. Yay! :)

Thanks Evie ... Right on ... we have to resubscribe! blah!! I'll be posting my next bunch of blocks sometime this weekend. I'll leave a note as to which ones I'm posting on the general FWS thread that was started after #111. Hopefully most are re-subscribed to that one, and can find the specific block # threads. Sound like a plan?

oksewglad 11-12-2011 04:35 PM

That sounds like a good plan for all of us latecomers to post here as to what blocks we have just posted.

Another two done. I keep seeing tulips in the Bfly block. Anyone else?

QuiltE 01-02-2012 08:54 PM

Another two great blocks ... yes, re the tulips! Especially when you look at Honcheys pretty pink spring tulips!

OKSGlad ... Your quilt is going to be so nice and subdued. Mine is going to be it's in your face and loud cousin! Talk about Contrasts!!!

I think for 2012, I 'm going to have to "force" myself to do some things that are softed and more subdued. Now that will be a huge challenge for me! :) Step outside the box of comfort, QuiltE! :)

oksewglad 01-03-2012 06:06 PM

Step outside the box of comfort, QuiltE! :)

It's always nice to challenge ourselves! My DQ exchange is really going to be outside mine.

You can remind me of that later! ... honing in on the home stretch for FWS, so can't change now. And the PC I'm pretty much committed to what it'll be, though I do see it more as an organized, planned, coordinated scrappy. Wait til you see the 4PP that's also on my design wall, that I'm itching to finish up .... definitely not subdued, multi coloured 4PP's and then framed up with purple for a square in a square! Yes, some subdued. Hey ... just remembered I did the OBW in the soft girly girl look that was so not me norm.

Oh but I will .... step out side that box!!!
And would you believe, today I started to think about doing a mini, for a snowman decoration in my home? Or that I should have a mini on the back of the washstand in my bedroom that currently displays towels with crocheted edging. Yes, more ideas than time .... and brains!

**walking away now and muttering:: ... I cannot start any more projects!
