Block # 5 can be a little tricky for some because of the odd dimensions.

Block #5

1. Dark Template # 34 Cut one 1-11/16" square.

2. Light Template # 35 Cut two 1- 11/16" x 2-15/16" rectangles.

3. Dark Template # 36 Cut two 3-1/2" x 2-15/16" rectangles
Use template to cut correctly, especially corners.

4. Dark Template # 36 R Same as for step 3.

5. Light Template # 37 Cut two 3" x 6-1/2" rectangle.
Use template to cut correctly, especially the corners.

**************************

Block # 6

1. Light- Template # 12 Cut two 4-1/4" squares

2. Dark- Template # 12 Cut two 4-1/4" squares

Place 1 dark and 1 light 4-1/4" square -right sides facing together.

Cut from corner to corner diagonally.. Do not move or shift fabric.

From the opposite corners cut again diagonally.

Repeat for the other 2 4-1/4" squares.

Being you will be sewing on the bias and depending on how you accuretely you sew them,
cuttin a tiny bit larger wouldn't hurt - trimming is easier than recutting or ripping out seams.

Cutting the squares this way keeps the bias on the inside of the finished
block. The outside of the triangle is on the straight grain of the fabric.
and will not distort the finished block.

What you will end up with is 8 sets of 2 triangles facing each other
ready for sewing. when ready to sew keep all the pieces going in the same
direction with the same side up. This way when you open them to place one on the
other they will marry correctly.

Or for #6 as an alternate way, you can do the quick pieced quarter square method:

I found this method very easy too.

Dear H: Thanks so very much for doing the rotary instructions. I've only done one quilt using templates and that was before there was rotary stuff (dating myself) so I really don't have much experience using templates. This project will cure that I'm sure. Again, thank you so much for your time in doing this.
