Thank you Cuddly Quilter for the nice compliment. My seam ripper was my best friend yesterday.

Hi Jerrie. Just want to say I love, love, love your avatar quilt. Beautiful.

All the stars I have seen so far are gorgeous. I will try to get the slideshow up and running today. Been working hard to get my farmhouse block finished for Sula's BOM. You think this star was hard - that one was a bear for me to do, but I did it.

I have always hated removing the paper, and with the freezer paper method you don't have to. And, you don't even have to use freezer paper. You can just pin your pattern to the first piece of fabric and away you go. I think this is a beautiful, beautiful star.

Gorgeous blocks! Love them both!

Lovely!

It was slap it on and sew. I had a hard time getting the fabric lined up right. There are a couple of things I learned since coming on this board:

1. Some one had put up a link to how to pp and what the lady did on the video is copied off an extra copy of the pattern. She used this to cut each piece and she used them to cut out her fabric adding on 1/4 seam allowance. I thought boy that makes sense! PP got easier for me then.

2. Judy talked earlier on this thread about when sewing on the fabric fold back on the line and sew next to the fold. Oh I liked that every better!!

I can't say they improved the looks of my pp but they made it easier.

Here is my block such as it is. I cut pieces 1 and 3 as one piece to make the background in black.

It is looking good! Love the colour combo!

The blocks posted so far are wonderful.

I have started the Photobucket Slideshow for February's stars. I will try to add new stars as they are posted, but may not get to it every day, but they will eventually all be there. Have fun looking.

2 Doods, you are taking Star Light, Star Bright, to a new level. :) It is going to be spectacular!

I was thinking that when we get to the end of the year, it would be fun if everyone took a picture of all their blocks together. I know we won't have them quilted or even sewn together, but it would be fun to see everyones color schemes with all their stars just laid out.

Not sure why it is only 12". If you haven't removed the paper, that could be taking up some room and it would press out larger after the paper is removed. Mine I did as standard paperpiecing was a little smaller than 12-1/2 but I was able to size it up where it should be. The one I did the freezer paper method was 12-1/2.

Your star is beautiful. Love the colors.

Gorgeous block!! Love your fabric choices. Not sure about the finish but I did notice when I printed my pattern that the measurements were off by a tiny bit. Using the 1" square as a guide it was off by 1/10" of an inch which could account for the missing 1/4" on your block? Not sure if this is the reason for it.

My finished block also came in at 12"...along with points that didn't match up, etc. I'm really disappointed in how it came out and will have to redo it. I'm new to paperpiecing and this is only the third block I've tried. My points don't match up very well. BTW, your block is beautiful...along with all the others that have posted.

Practice and more practice is required unfortunately, but as you can see with the above, the results in the end are definitely worth it. Good luck further and keeping my fingers crossed.

The results are definitely worth it. Some of the blocks I've seen are perfect...so beautiful! I haven't been quilting very long and have to be patient...hard to do!
