I'll lead the way. I still have to redo the CS but that's on the back burner for now. I was going to do all 30 but that really begins to fill up my design wall and is hard to capture without catching furniture. The picture is a little wonky because I take it with my iPad and the camera is at the curve on the back and hard to adjust for.

Who is next?

QuiltE 04-25-2012 05:43 AM

*gasp* GGal it looks ever so blended with some sparkle blocks, and muddy ones, too, as Laurie would call them. I really like that concept as she explained it, as it makes total sense and how to pull together scrappy-ness.

Why don't you re-post your first 15, so we can see them all in close proximity with the 2nd 15?
(hope you don't mind my suggesting this,
Honchey?)

I'm holding off on posting my group til my sashings/cornerstones are all on.
Then from here on, that'll put me one step closer to the finish when we get there! Yeeehaw!!!

Not at all!!! I'm looking at the blocks and they look like "which block is that??? I don't remember doing that block!!". They all take on such different "personalities" when you use different fabrics...

Anael 04-25-2012 12:42 PM

WOW GGal! Your quilt will be gorgeous!

I didn't realize we reached 30 blocks and our second Milestone! I will take a pic of my blocks tomorrow. It's too late and too dark now here.

QuiltE 04-25-2012 01:30 PM

Honchey ... heck, I have that problem, just within the blocks for one week! different fabrics/colours/values can give such different looks and dimensions to the same patterns. Personalities, as you say!

GGal ... you have such a nice mix of colours and "moods" ... and they all blend together so well. I'm still really attracted to the pink rose in the first set ... At the Station (I think?) ... and I say I'm not a pink person, and yet lately, pinks seem to be calling to me!

Anael .. Have a good night's sleep!

dublb 04-25-2012 01:31 PM

Oh GG those are beautiful! They look great tagether. Good Job!

What a milestone! Ggal, you have such balance with all your colors, tones, shades, etc. I notice I need more yellow. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

QuiltE 04-25-2012 01:51 PM

JanRN ... oh so lovely!! and likewise to you, for your own achievements and also, the balance of your colours, tones, shades! Have you thought about your sashings yet? Maybe that's where you could put in some yellow splashes, in the cornerstones? You've really mastered PPing!!! Congratulations!!!

Honchey 04-25-2012 07:09 PM

Way to go Jan, Your blocks are downright beautiful together....and to think you almost didn't want to continue!!!!
What do you think now ???? Put a feather in your cap!!! great job! H.

It amaizes me how different these blocks look with all of the different fabrics. I like the idea of each having different personalities! How much better ya can see it when they are tagether.
Jan - Great blocks! I agree, the only color you're missin' is Yella'. I hope ya find just the right shade.
Quilt - The yella in your blocks just pops with that blue sashing & maroon cornerstones. Wow! Ya got a great eye for color.

QuiltE 04-25-2012 07:47 PM

Thanks DublB ... I wanted the cornerstones to be more subtle and not pop out too much, so went with the ruby.

Both the sashings and cornerstones are Fusions Mist ... a whole line of great blenders if you're looking for something that's got some multi-tones in them. I like them even better than the MMKrystal I used for the FWS ... we did try the Fusions, but the green had just too much yellow coming thru and looked gastly, compared to the Krystal.

And my apologies ... looks like you got a double of the big pic! .... and by the time I realized it, it was too late to pull one off.

I wish I could give you better pictures to look at ... and I look forward to hearing some "colour commentary" on what to work on for the coming blocks.

wooohoooooo .... we're 1/3 done! :D

mirabelle 04-25-2012 07:55 PM

Wow what beautiful blocks, I will have to lay mine out and take a pic, This is going so fast, 30 blocks down and only 60 to go....

Thanks ... I can't wait to see yours ... like many of the others, I am in love with your fabric, MiraB!!!

JeanieG 04-25-2012 09:56 PM

Oh wow, I did not realize we were at 30 blocks already! What great looking quilts you are going to have. Gardnergal, Jan and QuiltE have led the way, lets see the rest of the gang's blocks. I'll get a photo of mine tomorrow. I've previewed several fabrics as sashings, and cannot say what color I'll use. These blocks sure do take up a lot more room on the display board than the FWS blocks don't they? I may make this into two lap size quilts like I did the FWS quilt.

Here are my 30 blocks. I should think about sashing!

QuiltE 04-26-2012 04:23 AM

Anael ... I like how your white background has become a trend. It really brightens the overall look, and sure makes the colours pop, including the coloured backgrounds.

Here's some of my blue for you to try for your sasahing.
*passes Anael some of her fabric*
Another one that comes to mind. is a rich chocolate and black mix, also from the Fusions Mist.
Or a dark green, like the greenery in a garden ... and perfect ofr all those beautiful garden-like colours.

Oh thanks so much QE :D I will certainly try the blue!
Will have to do a search for Fusions Mist, never heard of this fabric. Sounds very good though!

I found it. What do you all think of this as sashing?

wendiq 04-26-2012 07:16 AM

Anael.....Love that brown fabric. What name does it go by? I am still thinking I want to use a black with subtle design or mottled look. Haven't found what I want yet....probably won't until I'm done. I change my mind too much and am afraid to go with sashing and cornerstones just yet......
I will try to get my blocks together today for a picture......I have made some substitutes so come up with the correct number, but not the "correct blocks".....LOL!

Anael 04-26-2012 07:59 AM

It's Fusions: Mist brown by Robert Kaufman Fabrics. The Fusions: Mist line has some gorgeous fabrics!
I didn't have all the correct blocks either as I substituted one or more too :D

gardnergal970 04-26-2012 08:34 AM

Wendig...Fusion also comes in a black. Kaufman has several lines of fusion and the one shown in brown is the line #12141 which is Fusion Mist.

That fabric is gorgeous Anael, I am considering a similar fabric for mine! I love the Fusion Fabrics!

QuiltE 04-26-2012 11:04 AM

I liked it IRL ... it looked much richer than it does here. I think it'd either be awesome ... or may come off too stark against your whites. Did you see the dark green? Mine is the darker blue ... and there's another blue, slightly lighter. Another consideration ... a dark'ish grey, but still with life in it ... not sure what colour you'd really call that? I don't know if there's one in the Fusions Mist. What I like about them, is that there's colour variance in the fabric, yet, it is subtle enough, that it doesn't compete with the busy-ness of our scrappy works! :D

The Michael Miller Krystals are still lovely ... more of a true tone-on-tone than the Fusion Mists.

QuiltE 04-26-2012 11:16 AM

Anael ... can you get Kaufman fabrics in The Netherlands? Or is this something we shouldn't be tempting you with?

Here's a link to the manufacturers site for the Fusions Mist ... 29 different colours

http://www.robertkaufman.com/fabrics/fusions_mist/#products/by:part_no

I think it would have been the Espresso that I saw that I really like ... though it just didn't work with the PC blocks. I didn't check at the time, but I'm thinking my cornerstones are Merlot .... and the sashing would be Evening.

Take a look at the other Fusions (drop down list in the search function) .... I just discovered that those shimmery looking tonals that someone is using are Fusions .... and there's only 138 to choose from! Another line had 100 fabrics. One of the lines has some great metallics that I"ve used ... and the pics online do not do them justice at all.

JeanieG 04-26-2012 11:25 AM

I was looking at this one for mine! It is in the #5574 series, same website that Quilt E gave above! I just love all the color variations in these fabrics.

Anael 04-26-2012 12:56 PM

The LQS doesn't have these fabrics and that's the only shop I can go to without having to drive for hours. So go ahead and tempt me LOL
I will have a look at the 138 different fabrics and maybe next year I will know what I'm going to do with the sashing :D
Thanks for the link QE!

dublb 04-26-2012 01:07 PM

Oh Aneal I love your blocks tagether! So light. I'm thinkin' that a dark like the one you are showin' would be a great balance.

Oh but there is ordering on line if you know what you want. I think my LQS has the fusion misty in stock probably in the brown. I could send you a FQ so you could see it in IRL before you decide. Just let me know.

OK Here's mine. I have some weirdos in the mix. I made a few substitutes, but you can get the idea. I put too many in the first shot and as you can see, no sashing decision yet.......Love those Fusions, but I think I need to "see" what I am going to use if I can. I do have some brick and mortar shops around that I will look at before making a decision.....this in not going to be easy.....

wendiq 04-26-2012 06:13 PM

QuiltE I really like the way your yellow/cream background looks. It surely brings all your blocks together and is very calming......

dublb 04-26-2012 06:34 PM

Wendi - I'm gasping! They go so well tagether & I really like your substitutes. (I've made quite a few sub.s also.) No weirdos at all in your blocks.

Honchey 04-26-2012 07:01 PM

Oh my gosh, I think I'm going into diabetic shock with all the eye candy these past two days... I love all the bright colors. Wendi, Where did you get the pattern for the tan horse shown on the left side of your blocks.. I love it... I have to take a photo of my blocks...maybe tomorrow. H

Almost forgot I had to do this today, (see what happens when DH is home:p).

Here are my first 30, I have only sewn on a few sashing strips, I am trying to sew them together in the same sequence as Laurie did otherwise I get myself into a real pickle trying to arrange blocks.

Everyones blocks are so beautiful, give yourselves a big pat on the back for another great achievement:thumbup:

JeanieG 04-26-2012 09:17 PM

Wendi and Mirabelle - oh how I love to look at the blocks all together. Great work gals!

dublb 04-26-2012 09:20 PM

Mirabelle your blocks are awesome. The right balance of color & your sashing is perfect. I've got ta where I look for those lovely roses of yours! You have 'em just enough not ta overwhelm the quilt with 'em.

Anael 04-26-2012 10:49 PM

Wendi, your blocks are so bright, I love it! The horse without indian is great :D

Mirabelle, your quilt will be so beautiful!

Thank you, that's so sweet of you! I tried something with Paint, two different sashing colors. I hope the difference can be seen, I have no idea if this works because I had to resize the pic.

The first color is Brown, the second color is Earth, both from Fusions Mist.

mirabelle 04-27-2012 03:37 AM

I like the Brown, the Earth may be a little too dull jmho
