Thank for dropping bye tdt. Come back and join us again soon!

QuiltingNinaSue,
So what happens when you have three real cowboys? Do they play Rock, Papa, Scissors to see who gets to sit in the middle? My daughter's horse loved wooden fences...he thought they were just delicious.

QuiltE 04-06-2012 08:18 PM

Oh Oh ... I've been doing Y-PP!
And have A Beauty almost done ... though decided to call it a day (or perhaps I should say night?)
Will be doing the photos tomorrow/Saturday and posting.

And here you go ..... a PP'd "A Beauty" from the back .........

... and now it's all stripped and pressed, along with it's Pardner "A Dandy" that I posted way back in week one!

Good job, QuiltE. Nothing wrong with your eye sight or colors on your lovely blocks.

tdt: good to hear from you. The cowboy way would respect age and the youngest cowboy would sit on the right and open and shut all the gates. If the horse is eating the wood there is a problem...needs minerals & salt...and some schooling. Some horses will kick boards out of their stall and needs a refresher of training. Others will try to bit you as you saddle or bridle them; bad habit. Or fill their stomach with air, so when you step into the saddle, the cinch gives way and turns you under the horse.

I find the trick rider is exciting; they train their horses well so the rider can hang onto each side and back while the horse gallops around the ring.

Thank you QNSue ... I appreciate your encouragement. I had such a hard time deciding on the fabrics for A Beauty. Sometimes I putter around with the fabrics for a very long time before I start working on a block. And sometimes too, I walk away from it or ignore the block for awhile, when I just don't know what to do!

I too enjoy the trick riders ... and appreciate their skill!
Also, the synchronized riders ... particularly our RCMP Musical Ride!!!

Very, very pretty QE! I love all your fussy cuts and the bright colors you used. Good job!

carriem 04-07-2012 03:58 PM

Great blocks QuiltE! Good job on getting all caught up during spring break! :)

JeanieG 04-07-2012 04:35 PM

Oh lovely fabric QuiltE! (lol) Those both turned out super! You'll be caught up in no time.

gardnergal970 04-07-2012 05:04 PM

Wow...QuiltE...you've outdone yourself! It's been worth the wait to get to the beauty.

dublb 04-07-2012 05:32 PM

Great job QultE! Leave it ta you ta figure out a way ta PP!! Your FC is awesome! WOW! I still like that yellow. It's lovely!

QuiltE 04-07-2012 07:53 PM

You're all great with your comments and support!

It took me awhile to get to doing A Beauty ... couldn't figure out the fabric, and just wasn't
♪♪♫ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPXwkWVEIIw ♫♪♪

I've now got my first 15 done ... though I think I'm going to remake that one I botched up when I shouldn't have been sewing when I was sick!

Termi 04-08-2012 05:29 AM

QuiltE, Wow!! your beauty block IS a beauty. I love the hats and they even have your signature yellow in the background. Even the back of your block looks so neat. I'd never have the courage to show the backs of mine. Great job!

Honchey 04-08-2012 05:50 AM

QuiltE, Your blocks are show stoppers!!! Verrrrrrry Nice! H.

Honchey ... You're too kind! Thanks for creating Spring Break ... it's been nice to do the catch up, without cramming them in with other blocks!! Hope you are enjoying your "southern" Easter getaway!! Quilty production? or just a good R+R?

Thanks Termi ... I'm wanting some of the plain or print in every block ... I wasn't sure if I had enough in that block or not? Almost did the corners in the yellow, but backed off, and am glad I did. I showed the back, so everyone could see, that it could be PP'd! Notice my colour coding with the highlighters ... and the pink outline to remind me that it's the outside edge. I don't trim those off til the block is all assembled, paper off, and fully pressed. Then I square it all up and trim. BTW ... I left you a note and link over in the Spring Break thread!

wendiq 04-08-2012 06:15 AM

QuiltE....that hat fabric is great. Love the way you were able to capture the neck scarves with the hats. Nice....:)

Thanks
WendiQ ... there's quite a few different things in that print, so I've been fussy cutting it as I go. It's been driving me nuts though, as the individual things are too close together for nice FC! See how some of the print comes into the corners ... and makes them look as though they aren't square! I had one block that I abandoned as it just totally ruined the starburst effect ... this one I was able to live with.

oksewglad 04-10-2012 09:09 AM

QE--ditto on all the comments about your blocks! So are you going to have fabric with neat little squares cut out here and there? Those pieces would make the basis to some Crazy quilt blocks to fill in as substitutions. Just an idea.:)

Aren't we all going to have cut out fabric?
I was also looking at it and thinking of rail fence blocks? or squares and the plethora of projects they could create.
Last night took some of the PC crumbs and sewed some together ... will see what happens!

And of course, we could all use them to make mini-quilts! :)

Oh it's not that far ... I was thinking more like the Mile a MInute technique when I started, then I started to think of other things. So what I did, may be nothing! And I really didn't sew all that many together ........ I really don't need to start new things, do I? :)

oksewglad 04-10-2012 12:01 PM

QE--always need something started so that we are never finished LOL. The blocks might work well in a lap quilt for a retirement home recipient. I have a feeling most of them are more feminine in nature and a nonflowery one would be appreciated.

Great job of posting GrannyG from Iowa. And I love your blocks; they all look so neat.

JeanieG 04-28-2012 12:45 PM

It is so fun to go back and look at these earlier blocks. Thanks for posting GrannyQ.

oksewglad 04-28-2012 03:44 PM

Great use of light and dark in the first block, grannyQ. Like Jeanie--we love to see these new blocks appear.

dublb 04-28-2012 08:47 PM

Oh, GrannieQ! I love your blocks!! Great contrast! Blue is my favorite color. Welcome on our trail.

carriem 04-29-2012 04:32 AM

GrannyQ--wanted to say your blocks are very nice...from another Iowan. :) I started later than the others so am still playing catch up...I have 14 blocks done so far.

gardnergal970 04-29-2012 05:10 AM

Anael 04-29-2012 12:50 PM

Beautiful blocks GrannyQ and perfect points!

grannyQ 04-29-2012 02:59 PM

Thank you everybody. I have enjoyed looking at everyone's blocks. Finally learned how to post pictures. So I will be adding more.

QuiltE 04-30-2012 11:00 AM

Welcome to the PC, GrannyQ!!
A terrific debut with your blues ... and with your mauve/purple FWS, I'm now wondering if it'll be blue all though?

Now off to check on your other posts and to see if my guess plays out!!

And a Dandy it is! Lovely colors!

oksewglad 05-31-2012 08:11 PM

You are off to a great start, Chrystal. The 30's fabrics will add a new dimension to the PC ride.

gardnergal970 06-01-2012 04:55 AM

Cwesley...great block. Some here called the Confederate Rose, Confounded Rose. You'll get some good coaching from Carriem do don't let the "y" seams get too you. Some of us had never done them either even though we had quilted a little/lot. You will be a master quilter right out if the chute!

QuiltingNinaSue 06-01-2012 05:57 AM

Sweet! Love that purple color.

Termi 06-01-2012 06:25 AM

cwessley, beautiful block and a great job!

Honchey 06-01-2012 06:59 AM
