Beautiful color combos, OK.
Week 27--wow! |
oksewglad and janRN, you both have beautiful blocks this week and so well done. I haven't had a chance to even look at the book. I'm going to be MIA for awhile. It's blueberry picking season. Have to get them ready for the farmer's market. Also having house guests and going to Maine to visit family. I haven't looked at the QB in days and really miss it.
I hope I don't get too far behind. |
Oh Jan your Lucky Star is gorgeous; the gold high lights the block beautifully. Equally striking is the pink/red tones in Mother's Delight.
Termi, don't worry about getting behind--I have 20 + blocks to catch up on:shock::eek:, and we're not the only ones so no one is left in the dust on this ride. |
JanR...your blocks are beautiful! I did get mine done and will post them in a couple of days. I can't upload from my iPod so it's a process.
|
OKSGlad and Jan you both have great blocks!! Your contrasting fabrics finishes them off nicely.
Gladie--those fabrics look familiar. I know I have a couple of the prints, but maybe in different colors. Jan--I recognize the blue w/gold from the "shimmer" line! The quilt shop where I work just got some of the line in and that blue is one of them...along with butterflies. I didn't have my pattern with me or some of it would have come home today. |

Oksewglad and JanRN your blocks are truly beautiful, here are mine for this week.
|
Is this the first touch of green in your quilt, mirabelle? It will make for a wonderful "off" color in your blue/red splendor. And the points all match up so well in Mother's Delight. Lovely, delightful blocks.
|
Oh gorgeous blocks everyone! I have just "colored in" the PP for Lucky Star and pulled some fabric to see if I like them. Got last weeks blocks done, but have not got them pressed yet.

Beautiful blocks, Mirab. I agree, that green really adds depth. Great job on all those points!
|
Mirabelle--I really like your blocks...the colors are so soft and blend well!!
|
Those are some of the most beautiful blocks I have ever seen. Very different from the usual. Love them.
|
Hi Halfsquare. Thanks for stopping in. Is that a FWS in your avatar? Why don't you hitch a ride on this PC trail? We although this is week 27, several of us are at different stage outposts on the road. We'd love another PC rider.
|
Oh Jan, won't you send your blocks this way? They are stunning!
Mirabelle, beautiful blocks, as always! |
Thanks everyone, I am starting to struggle with fabric choices as my stack of fat quarters is slowly getting smaller. Sure hope I have enough to make it to the finish line:o
|
Three perfectly pointed pairs ... each unique in their own ways!
Can't help but love them all! OKSGlad ... back in the saddle with your always lovely subdued fabrics with great contrasts. JanRN ... some sparkle and glitz with beautiful jewel tones against the crisp fresh white MiraB ... as always, the serenity in seeing yours. I too jumped and said, oh the green is new ... not! If you run short, on the fabrics, will you just go for fewer blocks and finish it up? Or are you looking for more fabric to coordinate? Beautiful!!! |
I have saved every tiny scrap since the start so hoping that I will make it to the end or at least go extremely close. I so want to do the full 90 blocks. Will just have to cross my fingers and toes:D
Tomorrow will post pics of my sewing cupboards, all nicely stacked with my stash. Carpets have been cleaned but I am not allowed to move my big table into the room until DH gets home. I was sort of in trouble for removing and fixing the cupboard doors without him. They are very heavy and my poor back did not appreciate it:thumbdown: so strict orders not to lift anything until he is home. |
So you only have one option MiraB ... sit and sew!!!!
I bet it feels wonderful to have your new Home Sew Home! :) Could you find some of the same fabrics online and order them? |

Hellooooo! Oksewglad, Jan & Mirabelle...Very Pretty Blocks.... I tried the mirror image with the printing and I'm always getting confused...I have to color both sides and I'm constantly flipping them to see if I'm doing it right. I have a surprise for you!!! I finished a block!!! Here it is...H
|
Well, you're way ahead of me Honchey :D ... Hurrah for your being back in the saddle!!!
|
And what a lovely block it is Honchey! The purple outer triangles highlight the purple in the inner star.
|
Honchey--what a pretty block. :)
I cut fabrics for this one today as well as 4 others....no sewing though. |

Beautiful block Honchey, I love the fussy cutting you did.
As promised here are a few pics of my storage cupboards in my new room. first photo is my stash, yardage is all folded on shelves and the wire baskets hold my scraps, fat quarters, one yard lengths, kids prints, projects and backing leftovers. Second photo is my longer lengths that I have rolled onto bolts. Third photo is my extra sewing machines, there are full kits in the plastic storage containers, and projects half started in containers and baskets, extra embroidery threads etc etc Yes it will always be this neat as I can't stand a messy room, hope you like it.. |
OOOhhh my goodness Mirabelle!!! so TIDY
YAY Honchey! it looks like a kaleidoscope :D |
Great block, Anne. Beautiful. Have to get my blocks going again...Almost done with "Gone Fishing", just have to put 21 inches around the panel now...using the Iowa Star or broken canoe pattern...its paper-piecing.
Wonderful neat sewing room, Mirabelle!! Now you can come to my house in North Central Missouri and organize mine!! LOL!!:):):) |
Thanks for sharing mirabelle! Such great organizing.
Wish I could be so neat and tidy; alas I keep trying. An overnight guest today said, "But G, it only takes 21 days to develop a good habit." Laughing as she said this because we've known each other since she was 7 and as my DD's best friend she's seen my house at its best and its worst! |
MiraB ... such wonderful storage and so well organized. Now please do show us the rest of the room ... where you sew, what view you have, and more! I'm sure you're going to really enjoy your new location. What's happening with your old room? Does it become a bedroom to replace the one you have taken over? ENJOY!!!!!!!
OKSGlad ... Friends who have seen the best and the worst of our lives, are TRULY friends! ENJOY your time with her while you can!! |
Great job Anne, my block is still in pieces!
Mirabelle - looks like you are ready to sit down and sew in your new room. I'm like you, mine is always neat also! I cannot work in a mess! |
QuiltE will take photos of the rest of the room next weekend when DH has set up my tables. He wants to make sure the electrical cords are out of the way so I don't take anymore tumbles. Unfortunately I do not have a "view" outside my window as my neighbours are very close. So I put up nice new curtains.
My "old" sewing room has converted back to my DD's bedroom or guest room now. QuiltingNinaSue just say when and I'll be there, but I must warn you I am ruthless when cleaning and sorting stuff:eek:. |
MiraB ... I'm so glad that your DH sees the importance of making safety #1 in this resettling! And too, just makes it so much neater too. Nice new curtains will be a nice treat too!!
|
Anne, great block--love the fabric colors and your points are perfect.
Mirab, love your "play ground"--nice, neat, organized. Looks like the perfect place to work. |
Thanks for the compliments........I'm trying to use my scraps and it's getting more difficult as I've been looking at these scraps for the past 2 yrs and none of it is calling me...I've been cutting up & sewing alot into 1 1/2" squares for a postage stamp block....the remainder goes into a pile for a spider web block....I've also done a few crumb blocks...It's supposed to get really hot again so I won't be going outside...I'll be able to sit and sew this week...I'm working at the Viking Gallery for 2 full days...long days as it takes me 45 min each way + the 9 hours of playtime...fun fun fun for me! Now to see about the next set of blocks...H.

Here are mine for the week. Honchey, your block is stunning. I know what you mean about getting tired of the same fabrics. I finally allowed myself to use another group and choices were much easier. Mirabelle, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you not running out of fabric. I had just barely enough for my last quilt and was so glad to finish that last block. You've also inspired me to part with some fabric that was given me that I will probably never use. Thanks. JanR...your colors really make your blocks shine. Love them Oksewglad...happy to see you back in your pony. With all that you've been doing, I know you're spread thin. Also, your mindless sewing of crumb blocks is something I should do. I have lots of scraps but hate the process of cutting them into specific sizes. |
