What beautiful quilts, QNSue and made withso much love! Hey, those turkeys look like they will be good eating come Thanksgiving. Do you butcher them yourselves?

QuiltingNinaSue 08-12-2012 05:51 AM

Yes, we plan to do the deed. grandparents who raised me butchered two steers and 4 hogs every year and we kids helped. I have their meat saw they used. We have butchered hogs in our marriage, and chickens. Never a turkey or duck, so it will be a new experience. My dh is a strong armed man, so he will do the heavier tasks for me.

Our little peach tree has produced a bushel of peaches, I am working up today; also, doing grape jelly from the half bushel of grapes our vines produced. Nest blocks of PC will be due and must get to them sometime soon. Working on finishing a quilt for grandson, and one for Susan's daughter, border my blue nine patch and trellis quilt tops. Sinus are bad today, I can hardly see after being awake for an hour and my back is very sore, but thankful I can still move about. Thera-gesic time. Smile. The day has promise, but doubt if it will rain here. How we need the rain!!

QNS, You're an amazing woman!!!! Where do you get all the energy to do what you do??? I so enjoy all the photos you've posted.....Alot of chatter this past week...keep it up everyone..H.

Thanks, Anne, we all (PC riders) do whatever we need to do as the occasion arises, as you yourself does also. My record for quilts in one month is six; but in all honesty, this time the deer top was already pieced together. One last batch of grape jelly and one pan of peach to do and wash up the mess and I am done in the kitchen for the day.

Idle hands are a joy to the Devil; with Him, all things are possible. Its just an 'attitude' of can DO! Not the 'cannot do' or 'will not do'. I see a 'can do' attitude here so much and I love all on the trail ride...'cause my age is catching up with me, I tend to slow down a bit more than others here...but love their stories of their lives also. One was even kind enough to allow me to 'adopt' her grand daughters!! Fun!!.

Sue your Turkeys look so very plump. Hmmmm Actually I've never had any turkey that wasn't store bought. We are gonna be wild turkey huntin' this fall so I guess I'll be eatin' wild turkey.:) It's supposed ta have a whang ta it. I hope it is good.
I usually boil my fruit, separate my pulp, & freeze it till winter. I don't want ta make jelly in the heat o' summer. :p I love home made jelly & Jams. I have figured out ta make it w/splenda.:)

Oh Bev what a great idea to freeze your fruit pulp until winter! I have apples that I'm doing a batch a day to make applesauce. We only have a very small apple tree, and I did not get it thinned enough, so the apples are really small. Oh well, I can handle a batch a day. I make my applesauce chunky, with brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Really yummy!
