I'm sad today.:(:(
We have an event here in Midland every fall called Hunt for Hero's. It includes a parade & dinner. The vets that are chosen are then taken on a hunt & their families are treated ta a shopping trip & all are treated like royalty. The float that was carrying the vets & their families was hit by a train. We aren't sure how this happened. 4 are dead & 21 injured. I have heard that at least 1 of the dead was a vet. He pushed his wife out of the way before he died. (Some of the witnesses say the arms did not lower & others say that they came down way late.) So very sad!!!!http://www.quiltinghaven.com/Smileys/default/cry.gifhttp://www.quiltinghaven.com/Smileys/default/cry.gif Here is a news article about it. http://www.mywesttexas.com/top_stori...9bb2963f4.html A video of our Mayor talking about it. Oh my goodness ... Even in not knowing anyone involved, I gasped in disbelief.
How sad and tragic. |
I can't imagine how the truck driver, the train engineer, or the man who started this event, feels. It's got ta be so hard.

Dblb, this is horrific. My heart goes out to your community and all those involved.

Very sad, Dublb. News said the wheelchair vets were strapped down...did not hear that the families were all together. Dh said if the crossing bar malfunctioned the RR would not be held responsible due to an old federal law. Prayers are with everyone there.
