First we challenged each other to do it ... then we decided to throw it out to everyone, world wide!
http://www.quiltingboard.com/quiltin...e-t186260.html

W4Me has hers completed ... whereas I have spent too much time on FWS and PC and not moved ahead with my Mr. Monty!

OBTW .... it's anything and everything ... whether a PUP that's been sitting for awhile or a new project; something fun and whimsical or something serious; big or small. Anything fits!!

As for the date ... we chose July 1st as it is Canada Day ... and close to your American 4th July celebrations. The patriotic part does not have to be national patriotism, but could be showing your community patriotism or heritage or ??? ... really anything goes. Back to the date ... it's just a date .... and honestly, we expect it will continue on, long after!!!

So Come One, Come All!!
... Come on over and join in the fun!!!

(and yes, it's become quite a little chatty hang out too!)

Thanks for that explanation QuiltE. I've been wanting to sew something patriotic. Hmmmm will have to think of what.

Don't be shy ... the first step is to drop by and say Hello to the group ... then start making plans! :)

Here are my block for the week. JanRN I almost took your comment about templates for the Ice Cream block as a dare but backed down when I figured out just how many different size pieces there were and how critical the placement is. That would have been simply over the top. PP for me on this one!

janRN 06-21-2012 06:31 AM

I'd call you a chicken, Ggal, if this wasn't a Pony Quilt LOL!! I can't imagine using templates. Both of your blocks are so pretty; and so well done-look at those points!

carriem 06-21-2012 05:53 PM

Ggal--thanks for sharing your blocks. :) I am pp'ing just about everything...even trying to find a way for the ones without templates.

QuiltingNinaSue 06-21-2012 06:36 PM

GardnerGal, beautiful blocks, well done. I'm limping along behind you all, cheering all of you onward...enjoying the eye 'candy'.

Termi 06-22-2012 11:05 AM

gardnergal970, great job on your blocks!!! Nice contrast and points, very, very pretty!!

deranged_damsel 06-22-2012 08:39 PM

LOL! I used templates :D :D :D

Well I would call you a master piecer. You did everything right and they are beautifully done!

janRN 06-23-2012 04:37 AM

I said I'd bow to anyone who used templates for Ice Cream Bowl. DD, I'm bowing, clapping and saluting you!! Great job on your blocks.

QuiltE 06-24-2012 07:16 PM

GGal ... a pretty pair you have there ... brown and gold is a favourite combo of mine. And you can't beat PPing for the precision in your ice cream bowl!

DDamsel ... our hero indeed, using all those templates!!

CarrieM ... I have done all of my 36 (or is it 38?) via PPing, including those that were not planned as such!! I just used the line drawings and broked them into the parts for PPing ... and yes, even the Bird's Eye View (dresden plate like)!!

deranged_damsel 06-26-2012 02:17 PM

Ladies thanks again for the compliments :D

QuiltE
I didnt realize that you have done ALL of your blocks PP :D I am blown away! PP is difficult for me, so it seems to me that PP is equally impressive to templates if not greater!!! :D

PS glad you like the snake

Thanks DDamsel, though PPing is NOT hard! Think of it as dot-to-dot meets paint-by-number. I kind of feel guilty when doing PPing, as though I'm cheating. Most of my FWS was PPd. I started out doing regular piecing, and then came to a couple blocks that I knew would be a nightmare. At that time I was far from a PPer ... and honestly, thought it was totally useless and hopeless. The more I did it, the easier it seemed and the more I liked the results. Those results alone, encouraged me to do more of it and get better. Thus, I made up my mind that PC would be all PPing with as much FCing, to get better at that as well! Now if I could only get back at doing some blocks!

I have great respect for you and others who work with templates ... yes, I know, if I'd only "force" myself and practice practice practice ... some day, no doubt I will, when there's something I "want" to do and it's the only way!

I don't know why I can upload some files and not others, but I will keep trying. These are my blocks for this week, and I will try again to upload my 45 blocks. I really like all the ice cream blocks. They all look so yummy.

grannyQ 06-29-2012 09:07 AM

woops, i upload the wrong block on this thread.

GrannyQ--these blocks are great too! I like the contrast in ICB

Ditto!!!! Lovely!

QuiltingNinaSue 06-29-2012 06:32 PM

I love seeing blocks more than one time; and they just get better every time. Great job.

Termi 06-30-2012 03:37 PM

GrannyQ, very nice pointy points on your ice cream bowl and beautiful blues on home treasure. Nice job!

Ok to post the Home treasure:for a four year old grandson and memories of he and his parents on their camping trips.

QuiltE 07-25-2012 06:10 AM

Great block QNSue! ... before I saw your comment, I thought "Treasure Map"! A lot of work with all those fussy cuts. The dark green tree fabric couldn't have been a better choice!

dublb 07-25-2012 08:57 AM

Oh, QNS! It's just perfect!

Here's my Home Treasure. I need to find a sub for the Icecream Bowl!

QuiltingNinaSue 07-27-2012 03:15 AM

Love the pink!! Looking for a sub myself although Honcheiy says the Ice cream bowl is not hard. Its the Lucky Star and Jewel blocks that I am 'putting off'...debating about a sub for them...

Thank you QNS. I made a replacement because I absolutely dislike the icecream bowl block. So here it is, it's called Circle the Field and the pattern is from Quitler's Cache.

gardnergal970 07-27-2012 04:41 AM

GrannyQ...your blocks are so very nice. I usually have worked sampler quilts but but will take the plunge one of these days and so one with a family of colors.

QNSue...your stash has some amazing finds. What neat blocks you come up with and then a family story to go with it!

Anael...your blocks are so well done as usual. I LOVE your substitutue. I don't have that book but will be looking for it

Anael 07-27-2012 04:49 AM

Thanks GG! Quilter's Cache is not a book, it's a site: http://www.quilterscache.com. Just have a look, there are so many blocks and all free :D

QuiltingNinaSue 07-27-2012 05:27 AM

Isn't the quilterscache just wonderful??!! Love your block Anael, it is so colorful, and yes, I will go back at look at that block on line. It looks like a great replacement for Jewel or Lucky Star.

Finished my Chains of Love quilt except for binding; and the Deer family in Attic window with pillow fall scene and scene repeated at the bottom needs binding also. Now to finish 'gone fishing' and canning tomatoes....make another batch of nectarine jam. It is cooler today and that is wonderful... low to middle 90s instead of 103.

oksewglad 07-27-2012 06:12 AM

Anael, your blocks are so crisp and clean. The colors have such pure values. Can't wait to see your quilt done!

gardnergal970 07-27-2012 06:19 AM

Thanks, Anael. I'll bookmark that for further reference, I know there are some y seams in the future and they are not for me.

Tomatoes......no tomatoes here yet. They're blooming, that's all.

I love the Quilter's Cache. I'm looking there quite often specially now, because there are a few PC blocks I don't like so I have to find replacements.

Oksewglad, I won't make one Pony Club quilt, I'm using the blocks to make several quilts, like this one:
The border is on now but I didn't make a picture of it.

grannyQ 07-27-2012 10:37 AM

Beautiful blocks Anel, love your colors & your sub. I didn't really care for the ice cream block, don't know whether I will include it or not.
QNsue, your blocks and fabrics are very interesting and very unusual.
Ggal, really like your selection of fabrics.
I haven't been on most of this week or done any sewing, have had food poisioning, not a fun thing to have.

Yikes--no not a fun thing especially in this heat!

Anael--did you put a "crown" border on the ends? You are going to make many people happy when they receive these quilts. We should call you Angel Anael.

gardnergal970 07-27-2012 11:18 AM

Anael...what a beautiful, generous idea. I'm sure they will be appreciatd!

GrannyQ...glad you're feeling better! Food poisoning can be very tricky.
