The FWS Pony Club Wk 21 Blocks Gold Nuggets & Gretchen Discussion Page

Another week is upon us and I did get a block done for this week..YAY!!! I decided to dedicate Gold Nuggets for all of the "cow"pokes riding this trailride...I didn't want to have a multitude of fabrics in it so I decided to make a landscape alaQNS :) !. I hope y"all like it....on another note...I really haven't been feeling great of late....I think it's that nasty Fibromylagia??? It's so hard for me to move around plus I fell on my a_ _ last week when I tried to move the end of a reclining love seat that was out of line with the wall...I pulled on the bottom of the sofa instead of the end where the armrest is and the foot part jumped out and scared me off my feet and fell backwards on MY bottom and then proceeded to hit my head..I can thank the LORD for the carpet on the floor. I don't know if it's the weather and my buddy "Arthur"itis of if it's the other...I'm still not caught up with reading all the pages but I feel I'm on my way...The family situation is easing a bit and I'm dealing better with it.....Thank You, all of you, for being so patient with me....you guys are the best!!! H.

Honchey--I can't wait to see your block. :) Glad you felt up to at least sewing one. So sorry to hear of your fall...take care to heal up before doing too much this week!!

I said yesterday I had to do Gold Nuggets twice...the 2nd time it went together much easier!!

Glad you are feeling better Honchey. I fell over my own two feet twice in the last two weeks; good news was I did manage to "pull" myself up both times but the fall was hard and did shake me up a bit.

My best friend has that Fibermylagia since she was divorced at 28 with 3 kids depending on her; and she never missed a day of work for 23 years of work, even though she drove about fifty miles each day to get to her job and back home again. I don't know how she did it. Now she has the small veins into her heart that closes down and she has to take nitro quick and wait quietly for 3 minutes to see if it eases down...if not she needs to go to the nearest medical center fast...she also had her left knee replaced and was down for 6 weeks with that. And is diabetic.. But loves to quilt and has taught me so much about quilting. Love her sense of humor and love of life.

See if I can access the right file:And the ducks:Have grown up a bit. the turkeys try to "help" dh; and then go into the duck house to roost at night, 'cause the ducks use the turkey house all day."Baby Huey" has grown also. Remember the cartoon of the baby duck called" Baby Huey"?

Chickens get to move into the top floor of the A-frame tomorrow. So then we can push them out into the sunshine during the day.

Honchey ... so sorry about your Humpty Dumpty on your aRM ... it was your arm, right? *giggles*. I'm glad for you that you can see things easing up a little re your difficulties. I'm sure it felt oh so good to do that one block. And so good of you to continue to put the weekly threads up.

QNSue .. my oh my how big they are getting!!! BAby Huey, really is the star of the group, looking so pristine and white!

JeanieG 05-29-2012 07:44 PM

OMG how those "babies" have grown. LOL

Honchey, so glad your life is turning itself around. Life always seems to go that way! I always used to tell my kids "life is NOT a bowl of cherries", you will always have trials and tribulations all through it at one time or another.

mirabelle 05-30-2012 03:14 AM

Glad to have you back on the trail with us Honchey, hope you are feeling better.
QNS love your ducks they are so cute..

grannyQ 05-30-2012 06:21 PM

QNS, thanks for showing the ducks & turkeys. That is something I didn't raise. They really grow fast.
Right now I'm getting juice ready for some black raspberry jelly. That is the only way I can eat raspberries. I can't eat any seeds.
Honchey, happy to know things are getting better with you, sorry you fell, I fell 6 years ago and had a cast on my right arm and a soft cast on my right ankle. Then ended up having surgery on my hand. I have a friend that has fibro also, she has had a very hard time, but medication is finally helping her. Not fun.

dublb 05-30-2012 06:38 PM

My DD has fibro also. She has 2 kids & some day's has a hard time even gittin' out of bed. Another note about DD is that she is certified ta teach English in TX (She lives in FL right now.) She hates it when I type w/my TX accent.:DTalk about role reversal!

QuiltingNinaSue 05-31-2012 05:14 AM

Ducks are down in number by 2; our guess is that a 'coon got in last night and got the two black ones by their feet...killing one and leaving the other alive with one leg. Never dressed out a duck before, but just saving the one breast. Double D. Now trying to think to how to protect them better. Heart broken of course.

dublb 05-31-2012 08:12 AM

:(I'm so sorry QNS.

Yup life has its ups and downs. Glad you feel like you have the time and energy to sew Honchey. Hope it helps perk you up a bit.
Humpty Dumpty on your aRM
Of course, it was her arm, what else could it be?
Isn't it amazing how those little creatures grow? Thanks for sharing, QNS.
I've no blocks sewn, but tonight picked the first broccoli and some buttercrunch lettuce. The Romaine is going to be ready soon too. I planted the broccoli around the 3rd week of April, when I usually plant and expect the first heads around Father's Day. Guess it's about 3 weeks ahead of schedule. I was so surprised to see little side shoots already appearing.

carriem 05-31-2012 06:24 PM

OKGlad...looks so fresh and good to eat!

I didn't get to sew today like I wanted to; I *should* be able to tomorrow though.

oksewglad 06-02-2012 03:27 PM

Well here's another reason why I have no blocks.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ml#post5261196

Not only did I get rid of a bunch of squares and seersucker pieces I also found 6 flat sheets from old sheet sets and 3 or 4 lengths of seersucker to use as backings. This group is looking for utility, functional quilts. PS the seersucker was hard to press a seam in; must be the poly in it. They will tie them. Another bonus is it freed up space in my sewing room!!

Gladie; Looks like those broccoli plants will be delicious! Here is what I've been doing in my garden-picking strawberries and cutting flowers! I'd say about 3 weeks ahead here, too. N.

oksewglad 06-02-2012 06:20 PM

N, wow fresh berries and flowers from the garden! I never had the patience to do sberries, mostly to keep the bed free of weeds; and C doesn't particularly like them. Picked another 2 heads of broccoli tonight. Have 1 more that's close and then it will be a while for the later planting to be ready.

carriem 06-02-2012 06:34 PM

N--Beautiful strawberries and flowers! Even the berries at the store looked yummy tonight so I got a few...fresh are so much better though!

QuiltingNinaSue 06-02-2012 06:39 PM

Love the pictures and stories about the garden. I have picked a gallon of big red cherries and about a gallon of strawberries; had fresh peas and potatoes creamed together. Also picked rhubarb to freeze from both tires. Herbs are getting well established and growing.

Turkeys flew out of their "legal" area today, so its clipping their wings tomorrow morning before they roam the orchard. Chickens were "rolled" out into the sunshine today; but back in the garage with the chicken tractor tonight.

oksewglad 06-02-2012 06:49 PM

Don't you love the month of June and there's almost a full Strawberry Moon out tonight!

jillnjo 06-03-2012 04:50 AM

What's a strawberry moon? love those ducks and enjoyed the pictures. My daughter bought 10 chicks of different breeds for laying hens and just finished the cutest little hen house for them. They had been in a water tank and she said they had a palace now! Aren't animals fun and such a great thing for kids to care for?

QuiltingNinaSue 06-03-2012 05:15 AM

Almost as good as gardening. To work the soil is so peaceful to me. Yes, the response of small animals who adore you is priceless...(also the cows and horses and sheep...)

QuiltE 06-03-2012 11:04 AM

I feel so out of touch with all of you! Life has been hectic, to say the least and I have missed you dearly. And too, I miss my sewing machine terribly so!

The good news and bad news of farming ... sorry for your two duck loss,
QNSue ... and oh, you all have me drooling at all of your fresh produce.

Good News here .... we got over an inch of rain on Friday. Good rain ... just one of those steady all day long rains. Then dreary yesterday with light rain, and the same today. So it can all soak in nicely and be "used" instead of evaporating away! Good for the crops ... and the weeds too! :)

OKSGlad ... What a God-send you are to those who will receive your quilts! With all that stash-busting, looks like a FART will be in order to re-stash! :)
