Note: There has been some discussion as to how to assemble this block. In order to avoid set in seams as shown in the book--cut 4 additional squares then in half diagonally for step # 5 T # 13. and eliminate T # 7 totally. Use the T # 13 in place of the # 7 T. Check out the discussion page for this week where it is explained in more detail. Anne

I have a general question about this quilt and rotary cutting. Hope it's ok to post it here. A friend is taking a class on the FWSQ and the instructor said she didn't recommend rotary cutting for this quilt. She didn't offer an explanation. Anyone know why? Rotary cutting sure seems easier than all those templates.

Hi Debbie, Everyone has their own way of quilting that also includes how you want to prepare your pieces for sewing the blocks. There are quilters who like to handpiece - trace the templates and scissor cut the pieces. There are quilters who will rotary cut the template pieces by getting the measurments of them then using a ruler, mat and rotary cutter and then there are quilters who will paper piece the blocks where they sew the fabric to the paper that has the template printed on it.

It might be that the teacher of this particular class only wanted to do it one way-or it might be that she doesn't like to rotary cut her pieces. Like I said in the beginning there are several ways to get it done. Anne

Hi, I am new to BOM and would like the book that has block #44 Gentlemans Fancy. How do I go about getting it and previous instructions for making this block?
