Show and tell"Ms. Kitty Taft is stepping along on her 'green' carpet to receive her granny award from her part in the international Cat Movie adults and children loved. Mrs. Thomas was done in two colors; on the green side, I reversed the yellow, so it looks like a light brown fabric. Unique blocks as I love doing them different, yet following the book samples somewhat...:)
Yes, Honchey I have following your production of more blocks. Love how precise you are on your blocks.:o |
Hi Nina, If I wasn't awake your blocks certainly did the job..I love the contrast & bright colors. Oh, and I just saw the little cat in the center. I'm going to Mrs Taft block sometime today and I'll be keeping the block separated because eventually I'll be setting them on point .

Beautiful blocks, ladies! I LOVE the scotties fabric. Also the kitty fussy cut center, Nina Sue.
That Mrs. Taft was a killer! She has over 50 seams. Mrs. Thomas: Mrs. Taft: |
Those are all such gorgeous blocks. :) Mine are not ready yet.

Jan, Your batiks are so pretty. I can't wait to see them altogether. Sewbizgirl, yours look most like the ones in the book. I didn't have a green to go in Mrs. Taft, and I didn't have enough of that red to put in Mrs. Thomas, that is why I used the solid black, but I still like them.

Here are mine. I would have liked to have used something other than the solid black in Mrs. Thomas, but what little black prints I have in my stash had way too much bright white.

Cute, cute blocks, Katybob!
|
Thanks QNS, I Will check that out. Katybob I have that green print and it looks cute in that block, I wonder why I didn't consider it.
|
What I like best about these blocks is everyone's blocks are unique with the different fabrics. :) I am just beginning these.

I thought I'd mix it up a bit being it will be a split block...Looks like I'm in an orange mood lately..
Blocks are looking great this week :) |
These are all looking wonderful! Great job everyone!
|
Another great week of wonderful blocks...makes me proud to be tagging along with this group. You'all are the best.
|
I love what you did, Honchey! Too smart... :o
|
At first the green was supposed to be in the center strips but then I sewed them opposite by mistake, then I said to myself "what the heck. ..leave it" then I added the orange to the other block to mix it up.. I was pleased with it after all :)
|
More pretty blocks.

Ok, here is my block 74 Mrs. Taft. I enjoyed making this block. The contrast is not like I normally would have done, but I just wanted to use these two fabrics together. I like how it turned out. I did take apart a couple of seams on my last one I did in the blue to have the seams even. I am happy with it now. :o
I have to say that this block looks so much prettier in person in real life than what my picture shows. :) |
Nice block Susan! The colors never seem to show up in the photo as pretty as they really are in my posts either.
|
Great block, Susan. All ready for the new week!
My photos never look as good as the 'real thing', either... |
Thanks girls.

Here's Mrs. Thomas! When I cut the orange stripe I thought it would be more interesting. The block turned out ok, but nothing to write home about. :-)
|
I think that block sings to me, Givio. Color contrast is good, fussy cutting looks great. Three cheers for that block!
|
I like it too! The orange really pops out.
|
Ok, thanks. :-) Nice encouragement!
Happy Memorial Day all! It's a good day to remember those who went on before us. |

I thought Mrs. Taft was surprisingly tricky. Yes, your monitor is right, it's a fluorescent yellow-green background. What was I thinking when I bought it? Well, I have to use it... luckily only an eighth of a yard of it! :-p :-)
|
That Mrs. Taft looks great, Givio. I just LOVE that tannish or pinkish print with the funny little flowers! The background just looks light green on my monitor and goes well in your block. I think I have or had some of the blue floral in my stash. Very pretty block.
|
It's tan. Yes, I like it too, it's why I used it-- ordinarily I wouldn't have as it's quite a fine cotton (fine, thin thread, and a smooth weave, lightweight, resulting in a thin fabric, if you know what I mean. Do they call that cotton lawn?). But, hey, there has to be a few places in a quilt that wear out where you can add a patch one day. :-p
