This week's blocks are a little fiddly, but not too bad.
K6- is very straightforward pp'ing if you choose to do it that way. It would be an easy rotary cutting block also. H8- is a little more difficult. I printed out the "block" and cut out the center circle. I pp'd the inner circle then cut out a freezer paper circle to use as a pattern. I appliqued the freezer paper circle to the center of the blcok. I6- I started by making a 4 patch block. Again I made a freezer paper pattern for the shape to applique to the final block. Finish up by appliqueing the melons which we are all used to doing by now. J5- I made PP'd the center square the print square and the red square, then I sewed the corner tri's to the outer red square. I appliqued the entire piece to the background. LS9-I appliqued the entire thing although you could extend the lines on the top diamond and pp it. I back basted the whole thing and had a hard time lining up the 2 half circles (and the rest of it too for that matter.) Well...finished is better than perfect rings true in this case. week 44 |

Patti, as always, love your blocks! You sense of color is always a delight as you are so creative with the color placement.
My Week 44... |
Thanks Wil, you blocks are fantastic! You played with color this week as well and I love them! In particular, I love your K6 :D:
|
K6 may have been the easy one, for me, as it is pp'd this week! It has my favorite star fabrics. Thanks Patti!
H8 is another story, maybe I was tired or something... It should have been fine, but I made it as difficult as possible, and the middle is too big and turned wrong, but it is d-o-n-e! J5 is pieced and the points are not perfect, but it finished too. :D :D The tri and I6 were easy enough, of course, you all know by now, when I applique it is with my machine...  |
OOOOO, I really like the addition of the pink. REminds me of strawberry nougat inside dark chocolate. Yum!
|
I'm giggling Wil because I have several blocks in the quilt that I turned all or part of it the "wrong" way. But....as my DH says, "who's to say its the wrong way, maybe she turned it wrong and you turned it right!" He can be a great guy :D:
Thanks Kathy! |

Here is week 44, finished but not perfect. I looked at H8 and then found out it was turned wrong way the cross is wrong but I am not changing it, it definately staying put.
|
...who cared Elle? Its your quilt! I kind of like it that way anyhow. The whole group is very pretty. I love K-6!
|
I am getting so excited for all of you as ya'll get closer to finishing up. I have filled the void left by having completed the top with 2 other quilts and the quilting of JJ.
Great work one & all! The blocks are really all beautiful. One of the things I love about these little gems is that they each can stand by themselves as a pretty little thing. |
Thanks everyone, Yes Patti I have got to the stage now when I say who cares its mine and I like it that way anyway.
I think that part of the excitement with these block is when you start puting them together, some of them have had my brain going when all else fails and thats been often I nip up to the computer and print out a block in fabrics. Cut out all of weeks 45 and 46 for Monday, I am on a roll. I would like to do the ´cornerstones as well I kinda like them so we will see. Theres onethere that looks like a swine to do. That start one Elle |
There are a couple in these last few weeks that "are a swine to do" or worse! But....keep remembering that then you will hit a few weeks that are soooo easy its ridiculous, and then you are done!...So...get going my dear!:D:
|
Yes I think week 45 and 46 are easy, I cut all the fabrics out and week 45 certainly looked an easy peasy one thank goodness. Week 46 has one with a lot of halve moons but I think I will applique them.
Elle |
Elle, Lovely blocks! I especially LOVE your H8, as mine is also turned the same as yours! When I realized what I had done, I decided it was too perfect to change...
I am soooo glad my blocks are done, but I find myself thinking about another quilt with some of these blocks, although it would not include all the blocks, just my favorites, or aka the easy/fast ones. Go Elle, race for the finish! |
Thanks Meredith, I am liking some of the new fabric I was sent to me by a friend on the quilting board and also some I bought in Seville when I was there. I am having a rest this week end as I really have raced along last week. Perhaps I will catch up with you this week coming.
