Another what I thought was a hard week. Y seams, a lot of applique..when you get through this week...congrats!

K11- this one wasn't too hard, but didn't make sense to me with the ends of the stars being cut off...maybe Jane made it the wrong size to start with..who know??? I pp'd the whole thing..easy breezy.

I5- I wanted to bash my head against the wall and maybe did several times. I did this one weird. I first appliqued a clover shape (the yellow flower), then I appliqued a blue circle over the top of that, then I appliqued the beige background color melons to finish it out. I'm just not good enough to have appiqued it any other way, although I'm sure there is a better way to do this block.

I-10- If you are gaining confidence in doing "y" seams, this one will be easy for you. I'm doing better with mine, but still not perfect. As usual for me, 3 of the sides look great...the other side...well..not so much. Again with the "finished better than perfect"

J-9- I chose to pp the entire blokc and then applique the littel diamonds into the corners. I should have pp'd them.

LS-11-I pp'd the entire tri, then appliqued the curve on the bottom. All you curve sewers will have no trouble with this one.

Here's mine....

Great blocks again Patti! :D

Jolo, good to hear from you, please share pics of your blocks as you can. :D

My Week 45

Now tell me, the tri "LS11 Kathy's Cake" I think my little star on the top looks kind of like a flame in the candle on Kathy's Cake.

I agree Meredith! It DOES look like a candle done like that *giggle*..I love it! I also love your J9...my choices for fabs in that one weren't the best. Great job on them all!

Wow, you ladies are doing great!! I love seeing your blocks! I have gotten so far off track with so many interruptions I need to get back to my "Crazy Jane" You are all keeping me inspired- AND in October I visited the Mother Quilt herself! On the way back home from visiting my SIL in Newfane, VT we stopped at the Bennington Museum to see the original Jane Stickle quilt. I was so excited to see it! Ok, perhaps I have an overactive imagination as I have put this quilt on a 100% cotton LQS fabric pedestal- but I have to tell you -I expected to hear angels singing, rays of heavenly light shining upon the Famous Jane Stickle quilt, as well as legions of loyal quilters bowing down before this wonderfully famous quilt- the fact of the matter was that I had to bribe my 8 yr old daughter (with some Andes mints) to go with me - the Hubster and my 11 & 5 yr olds wanted nothing to do with it- whatever! Anyway- The Quilt was in a room displayed all by herself- an older gentleman was the only other patron in there to see it. But I drank it in, I have to say it seemed a bit smaller than I imagined- of course I expected it to be larger than life on the pedestal- BUT, it was still awesome and awe inspiring- AND I STILL LOVE IT!! I took a bunch of pictures, I bought a poster, and a card. And with that said, I really need to get back to my blocks. I will have to make one today- I hit a snag on a y seam and when I started ripping seams out it got put aside and now I must get back to it....ah yes and then I see my son's birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas ahead of me....oh how the day needs more than 24 hrs. Or, I need to logoff and get sewing-Happy Quilting everyone!

What????? You mean there aren't trumpets playing and and aisle of the patron saints of quilting that you have to walk down through to get to where Jane is kept???? How disappointing!!! Someday I'd love to make the stop myself...I'll have to keep in mind the Andes mints bribe scheme though for DH..

What is that blue around the outer edge?? I don't remember seeing that in a pic of it before??

Lovely, but like you I would have wanted a full choir singing in the background and few drums doing the drum roll. Its lovely but like you Patti, what is that blue round the curves doing, I never seen that either before.

Oh, WOW! What an "awe-full" experience. To see it in person. I did notice that they have it turned 90° from the way it is portrayed on the cover of the book.

I think the blue is her binding. I was wondering what color it was as you can't tell from the book. I was planning on blue binding!

Glad you got to see her.

That would be a dream come true to see the original Jane! You are so lucky Jates!
