Ladies, this is it! The last group of tris! And...they aren't all that hard either, well, only 1 of them was a bugger.

LS13- at this point in the game, its easy. PP the block and then add the little melons. I used freezer paper on these.

RS5- I put my melon the wrong direction !! I have NO idea why. But I did do this block without any "Y" seams. I divided the block into 2 sections diagonally. the bottom section includes the diamond around my wrong way melon. I pp'd the top section together, then pp'd the bottom section...then sewed the 2 halves together on the diagonal...viola`!

RS10- another one of my favorites. It is very easy to piece. I used a freezer paper pattern for the "curtain" shapes and just slipped the pieces into the seam between the top and bottom portion of the tri. I then appliqued the "curtain" down.

TR10- Now this baby was a bugger...but I printed the block out and divided it up into sections and started at the top sewing it together. I avoided all "Y" seams by sewing the much smaller sections together prior to 'building" the tri.

And we are DONE with all the Tris!

Now take a week break while you think about the 4 kites.

OK, I worked on the tris today and when I got to TR10 it beat me! I even printed it out as a mirror and will try that tomarrow. Any suggestions??

Here's how I did it...

#1- Sew A/B/C, then sew F to that.
#2- Sew D/E together
#3- Sew I to J (small jig in seam), then add H
#4- Sew I/J/H unit to G
#5-Sew the G/I/J/H section to the D/E section
#6 Sew the 2 completed sections above together
#7 Add the bottom strip- J

Good luck! (Ignore my notes on written on the pic)

Thanks very much Patti! That helps alot! Boy, Kelly sure saved the toughy till last! Almost last that is. I dread doing the kites but maybe they will be easier than they look.

sandpat 01-05-2011 06:36 AM

I'm finding the kites to be a little challenging. I've done 2 of them so far....the last one I did had 66 pieces! I have 1 more of the really hard ones, then just the one with the melons. I'm going to embroider label information on those pieces (like Lesley did- I don't think she can come over to bash me on the head for copying her, so I feel pretty safe in doing that..))

Janstar 01-05-2011 07:40 PM

I finally got TR10 finished with some help but guess what? Two pieces if my pattern were missing and that's why I couldn't get it to work. I couldn't believe it!!!!!! After I jerry rigged it together with the help of Patti's tips and some extra fabric it fell together. I truly thought I was losing it! Thank goodness it's done!

Jan - they look wonderful!! Congrats!!! Happy Dance for you

You know, the missing pieces seems familar, they were missing from the software pattern right?

Janstar 01-05-2011 09:11 PM

They must have been Meredith because I went back to mirror print the pattern and I got the same thing. It was quite confusing. I really didn't think I should have that much trouble with all the experience we've gotten with this quilt. Was beginning to doubt my sanity abit! LOL!!

Thanks for the HAPPY DANCE!!!

sandpat 01-06-2011 06:09 AM

Yippee...finished!!! Sorry I didn't know about the missing pieces on that tri. I only printed out the actual block so to speak because I knew I was going to cut it up and pp it. Hopefully others trying to work on it will read this far down in the thread to know that...

Jan...all of those look so perfect and crisp...very well done girl! I can't wait to see yours all together...are you going to QAYG? I was thinking you intended to try Lesley's way..

Janstar 01-06-2011 07:09 PM

Thanks Patti, it's a great feeling to be this far!! Yes, I'm going to do it Lesley's way but first am going to start the kites. Hope they are easier than the last tri. LOL!!

I hope it helps others to know about the missing pieces too. If they follow how you did it they will have better luck. Thanks again!

I admire everyone who can stick with this project. I just love seeing everyone's blocks. It gives me hope that I can start my DJ next year. Thanks for sharing.
