Here is my block. I'm not happy with it, I can't get it to press down flat, the material curls up along the edges, so I'm going to redo, but you can get the idea.

that's one cheerful block, there, luva. i'll bet it looks better to all of us than it does to you.

try heavily starching your fabric before you cut your strips. makes fabric sooooo much easier to work with.

I agree with Patrice about heavy starching. I have had some strips like this, try some tear away stabilizer also. sorry you have to rip out, but its worth it in the end, when we get the look we are working so hard for. good luck, luva! :D

I'm fairly new at this, but someone told me when you sew strips, sew them in the opposite direction to the one you just sewed. Does that make sense? I did it and had no curling or bending. Hope this helps.

Yours are all GREAT! And I think I got some of mine switched around, after seeing GCathie's! I had seam allowance issues again with this one... Took it apart and resewn all twice, and but it did manage to come out to 12 1/2", so I think it's staying how it is! lol!!
:-)

Diana.....I did too....but once I starched the fabric.....made all the difference....and I laid mine out the way I wanted it....so you can't go by mine.....:-)....and I too think they all are pretty nice....12 1/2 is pretty darn good.....hit it with some starch and an iron....:-) and call it done!

lol!!! I like the way you think GCathie! :D

I have read before about some people starch their pieces/strips before sewing. I'm going to have to try that!
