Ok, here it is. Don't look too close. I really worked quickly on this.
Remember to increase the block from the 8" to 12 1/2" unfinished. You will need to adjust your printer or computer to make up the difference.

Looks great to me. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, looks good to me am I missing something? Also how do you adjust your printer or computer to change the size?

wvdek 10-31-2010 08:10 PM

Thanks. Some of the points are off and even after increasing the print size, measuring, and re-measuring, the block is too small. So, back to the drawing board.

I guess the easiest thing to do, is print out the pattern at actual size. Then place on your scanner and find your Enlarge button. On mine, when I find <100%>, I hit OK and then use the less than < button to decrease or the greater than > button to increase your size by about 30%. Print, cut out, place together, measure. If not correct, start over going up or downwith your <> buttons. It isn't as bad or hard as it sounds. Just don't forget to add you 1/4" seam allowances.

quilt queen 2 10-31-2010 08:39 PM

OK I'm going to try this thanks for your response I'm not too computer savy but am learning and can sure use info shared by people like you, many thanks!

wvdek 11-01-2010 07:13 AM

Your welcome. Here is anothert way to do it. I know some will not take teh time to do all of this, that they wanted a 12 1/2" block from the beginning. Their choice.

Ok, here goes:

Click on Template A
Left click on File
Go to Print Preview
On that ribbon, go to the box that says "Shrink to fit"
Click on the down arrow
Scroll to Custom, click
Type in 130% as your starting point, hit Enter
Place your cursor on the Printer on the same ribbon
Left click
Printer box comes up. Be sure you only print one for now. Repeat steps for Template B.
Cut out templates, match up 1/4" seams, and measure. Should be somewhere in the vicinity of 12 1/2" unfinished. If not, adjust the percentage either up or down by only a few % to get the size you want. Once you get the hang of this, it only takes a few moments. Most will find this method aggravating. Be patient, it is worth it. This is how I take templates and increase/decrease, all the time.
You will notice that some of the template is cutoff. Don't panic. Study it and decide how to best copy what you need. Really not that hard.
I am on my way to school and will be home later this eve. If you have any questions, let me know. Don't make it harder than it is.

PS - To my SQA

I hope you recognize these three fabrics. They are ones you sent awhile back. I am thinking of re-doing all the blocks in the fabrics you sent. What a lovely rememberance of our year together. Still thinking about it tho. So many patterns, so little time. :)

Mine came out at 10 inches using the 130%, I was going to try it at 150%, but I will wait for your measurements. Thanks

Really pretty block, Batikqltr! I'm still trying to figure out to go get 12 1/2 inch blook out of this. Anyone got it figured?

user15356 11-01-2010 02:02 PM

to enlarge your 8" pattern to a 12" pattern, you need to set your custom size to 150% because 12 is half again the size of 8. Cut out your templates to copy one at a time because they need a whole sheet of copy paper.

wvdek 11-01-2010 06:48 PM

Wow, those blocks are awesome ladies. Well done.

Thanks Jerri. I just got back from classes. Will have to try the 150%, but I am thinking that will be too much on my machine. I am almost there at 127%. We shall see.

fun2quilt 11-05-2010 12:28 PM

Printed the templates out at 150%, they should be the perfect size!

wvdek 11-05-2010 09:56 PM

Ok, I will try it. I know it was suggested, but, well, time.
I just spent all day doing homework for two classes. All assignments are finished through the semester. Now for Office Accounting and then onto Anatomy & Phys.
I couldn't sew right now if I wanted to. Too pooped. I will try it by Sunday eve tho. Thanks.

0h I want to make this block but it will not print out for me no matter what I try...I have followed your directions to the "T" several times and changing things myself and nothing works right. I either get half a pattern or the 8" size. How can I make this??????

Here's mine. I gave up trying to print it the right size and drew it myself. Even that took 2 goes to get it right!

Last one next month - I can't wait.

BATIKQLTR 11-07-2010 06:43 AM

Pretty block Lizzy! I'm not sure I could draw my own, so very nice job.

The center of this block is the same as the center for last month's "Memory" block. Then just print out the Template A or B at 150% size and add it on. I"m not real good at paper pieceing so I always try to find a way to do it by piecing. This worked for me.

Only nine days left for this block folks. Come on now, it only takes a couple of hours for us slow pokes. You can do it.

I am going to try and catch up on all my blocks this week while on break. Wish me luck.

I sure enjoy looking at all the variations in color and fabric. Never ceases to amaze me.

Looking forward to next months block.

Ladies,
Where are all of the blocks for November? :D I really like the one's posted so far, so come on & share the rest of them with all of us!! I can't wait to see them.
:D :D :D :D

wvdek 11-28-2010 02:55 PM

Guess this one was harder than I thought or I lost them during the enlarging process.

Maybe we will have a better turnout next month. Of course I still have about 6 blocks to catch up on myself, so I can't complain about so few bllocks for this month.

fun2quilt 12-01-2010 04:54 PM

Does anybody know where Decembers block is???
Wanted to make it up and then post a pic with all 12 blocks :(

BettyB 12-02-2010 06:19 AM

I think it is posted now. Basket block
