I haven't done any more of the Affairs of the Heart blocks either unfortunately.

My Mum had a stroke in February which she completely recovered from but at that time she was also diagnosed with dementia. She is still living in her own unit at this stage but between work and doing Mum's grocery shopping etc. I don't seem to have time for much else at present. Now that I have finished the lap quilt for my sister I am not going to start anything new but going to work on getting everything else finished up. PH being first on the list though I may try and do some of the hand applique for AOTH of an evening. I have to admit my mind has been a bit too full of other issues to concentrate on it.

I shall have to have a peek at the Quilts for Rosie thread. I am a fan of paper piecing.

I've just gotten back to my PH after how long? We started almost two years ago in Jan, 2011. Congratulations JTquilts, mtngirl, and Jupiter for your finishes. Is that it? Only 3 have finished their PH? I've finally gotten the sashing done and am now contemplating the borders. I've got the backing and batting purchased so I may soon, well eventually, have a finish to post. Here's what I have so far.

DeeCee,
I'm so sorry to learn about your Mother's stroke but glad she's recovering. Prayers for you and your family.

Thanks for your prayers Irene.

Great to see someone else moving ahead with their PH. Yours looks fabulous. Are you going to quilt it yourself?

jtquilts 11-18-2012 05:50 PM

Irene, I really like your quilt! I think your sashing adds so much! Don't forget to show us your borders and quilting.

Thanks DeeCee and Judith. I'm still working on my quilt top. I have it at the top of my UFOs to finish soon list.

Ok. Two years after this quilt was begun, my Penny Haren "Pieced Applique" is finally DONE! Here it is in its "good enough" form:

Well done Irene - it looks fabulous.

jtquilts 01-14-2013 02:23 AM

Oh, yes, Irene! Your finished quilt certainly is 'well done'! I am glad I still peek in on this thread to see progress. Now I will keep looking for pics of Deecee's PH quilt finished!

 Still coming.

Irene V 01-15-2013 06:56 AM

Thanks, DeeCee and JT. It's certainly nice to finally have a finish. I don't need to tell you what an accomplishment this was. So glad I'm done. Now for DeeCee's finish :)

I just dropped of my PH quilt today to enter a quilt show for this weekend. I had decided to enter after debating about being judged or just displaying and learned that this year there is no judge, just voting for favorites which took the pressure off! How the other quilts coming along?

jtquilts 04-13-2013 06:45 AM

I am off to the quilt show now. My mom will be coming with which is a good thing because she has not had interest or energy to go for a long time! I am excited to see my quilt hanging!

Deecee 04-13-2013 01:10 PM

What fun to see your quilt hanging Judith. Hope your mum enjoys the day also.

We did have a good day. It was raining when we went but, that was good news for our area! It was funny . . . . the show was in two rooms at the fair grounds and we looked at what we thought was all the quilts in both rooms and we did not see my quilt. I did get there late yesterday to enter it and I thought maybe even though I was pre-registered that they did not have room left. It was hanging very near where we came in and we missed seeing it because of looking at the donation quilt! It was good to see it hanging with all of the other beauties!

We took Mom's wheel chair instead of her walker and near the end she asked to be parked while two of us wandered the merchandise mall. When we came back for her she was not sure she was ready to go . . . . . folks kept coming by and chatting with her. She decided to go because we were more than ready for lunch!

How are you Deecee? I think of you often. I hope all is well with you and your family!

Things are very busy Judith. I now have another grandchild (6 weeks old) - that makes 3 grands under two years of age. Between the grands, Mum's issues and working, I don't get much sewing done at all.

I hope you and yours are all healthy and happy.

How exciting to see your PH hanging in a quilt show, Judith. Do you have any photos of your quilt at the show to show us?

jtquilts 05-02-2013 04:30 AM

Hello, Irene! No, I didn't get any pictures. I took Mom with me and she is in a wheelchair. I just wasn't coordinated enough to push Mom and chat with her about quilts and manage even my small camera at the same time.
