I am now counting down to the last post of these blocks. I was asked to do my designs in a Dear Jane sort of Sampler. So as DJs are done with 4 1/2" blocks I used 6 1/2" and 12 1/2" quilt blocks. For those who are doing the 6 1/2" I determined it will take 80 quilt blocks without sashing to make a Queen size quilt. So I am aiming for that number of quilt blocks.
I will be posting these for 3 more weeks. So the count down to ending this begins.

The designs will remain on the board as long as Admin allows and I don't imagine they will be going anywhere. So don't worry you can work on them at your own speed or come back to them later on. They will still be here.

This week I have a Drunkard's Path / A Boston and HSTs / and another HST quilt block. I hope you enjoy them!

As usual you can find my directions for using my cut down methods to make the "Blocks" by following this link.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual...jsp?vsnum=1020

And you will find all of the weeks here in the Topics Lists:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual...jsp?vsnum=1017

I encourage all who are working on the quilt blocks to post your pictures so we can share in the journey!!

As you work through the process on each quilt block you might think about sharing how you put them together. Pictures of your quilt blocks in progress are really fun to see too. so post on the Picture Thread for this Sampler Quilt! I look forward to seeing these quilts done!!

Just remember CJ that in Libby the center blocks are Bostons not HSTs.

You could add Bostons to the center 4 squares and it would add a pinwheel to the center. I would do it in the same dk blue or whatever dark you use.

Very nice!

Thanks Clem I struggled for Henrietta. I think that one is kind of hohum. Libby probably should have had more Bostons in the design. But it is pretty I guess the way it is. I do like Edith. My dad had an aunt Edith who I really liked. She was so sweet. So I figured I would name one after her.

It is so much easier to name them old fashioned women's names than to come up with traditional type quilt block names. My mind goes blank when I have to try to name something.

Oh, how I wish!!!

klgreene 01-11-2011 09:53 AM

Oh I'd love to meet you both, but I don't travel well. I'm going to my sons the end of March in CA, and although I am dying to see my son, DDIL and DGD's, I dread looking forward to the trip. I'll be doing it alone, and that isn't fun.

I'm not a traveler. Too much a homebody. I am not that brave to get out and go new places I guess. My mom would love to travel overseas but not me. I don't even care to drive long distances. DH used to drive and he loved to drive all day but now that he can't drive I have to. I am more about getting from point a to point b instead of enjoying the scenery.

But meeting board members especially you two might be worth trip!

I have the same ploblem. Infact I get terrible anxiety when I have to drive outside of the city limits.

klgreene 01-11-2011 10:30 AM

Oh driving doesn't bother me, and flying wouldn't if I was capable to getting my wheelchair in and out of cars. I've drivin from Ohio to Ca, and back again. MN to NM. all over the country, through big cities like LA and Chicago, but it's the independence I have right now that intimidates me. Or lack of it. I was hoping that I'd be walking now, but since I shattered my hip. It may never happen.

At least you can still sew!! LOL I would be intimidated for sure trying to fly if I couldn't walk. But a lot of people live in w/cs and do just fine. I know they make provisions for w/cs but there are times when I so would love to be an inspector and file reports on places that say they are handicap accesible but they aren't. Their idea of handicap accessible is a parking space. Never mind the heavy door you can't get through on the building. DH is in a w/c but he can walk at times. He loses the use of his limbs with no warning but he is able to walk part of the time. It just depends.

clem55 01-11-2011 12:08 PM

Katie, it might be easier at the airport now since you are in a wheelchair. If you tell them ahead of time that you will need assistance they are usually very helpful. Tell the airlines your problem.

klgreene 01-11-2011 03:05 PM

I usually do tell them ahead of time, but I have a story that would take forever to tell about flying from Lubbock TX to Syracuse NY. I had to fly through Washington DC, and they couldn't get me off the plane. I was stuck for 51 min. It was one of those plance you have to go down the stairs. Well with one leg that's a little hard, and the lift they had, THEIR little wheelchair was to big for. Even the pilot was upset. ANd the pilot was a BIG guy, he could have carried me. I'm just a tab under 5'2" and weight 130 pounds so not huge. Not teeny tiny either, but they wouldn't let him do that. Long story short, I ended up hopping onto the lift (barefoot so I wouldn't slip) and they lowered me. I told them, if they don't get me to Syracuse tonight, that I'd fly that darn plane and fly it myself. LOL I am a stubborn old women.

clem55 01-12-2011 12:36 PM

Katie, you sound like a ball of fire!LOL Sorry you had problems, and truth be told, that is why I'm hesitent to fly again. I use a cane, but to go any real distance a Chair would probably be best, and while I know you can get help, after reading your tale, I'm not sure.

klgreene 01-12-2011 02:03 PM

Carol, but that won't stop me from going to see my son and DGD's. They did give me a $200 voucher for next trip. But I threw it away because I will never use that airline again. Not to mention names but United we don't stand. LOL
