Ok, ladies look like some have already started their week one blocks. I won't be posting any new blocks until January 5th since that was when we were going to actually start this up. I will be working on both the easy and the challenge blocks as long as time allows. I just finished a twisted bargello top that I took the first class for and will be taking the second class on January 5th. Tomorrow I will be putting the borders on the top and then setting it aside to work on something else that I need to have finished before I go back to work on January 2nd. Then my next BIG project is a wedding quilt for my nephew who is getting married in April, not sure what I will do for it, all I know is that it needs to fit a queen size bed and I need to use "beachy" colors (pastel blues, purples, pinks, peaches, yellows), what I am sure of though is that I will hand quilt seashells around the border and do some type of nautilus theme on the main quilt.

Ok, off to go work on a couple mugrugs for Dot and perhaps cut out what is needed for our first two blocks.

See everyone tomorrow.

Rosie the Wyldwytch (a very tired one at that)

I am going to wipe out my small pieces of Christmas fabric and this is what I made tonight the only main factor will be the polka dot as I happen to have way too much of it in scraps (the yolks cut out of little girls dresses I was gifted the scraps of about 40 dresses). I decided not to pay too much attention to pattern just go with colors as its too easy to want to pick only certain ones this way it all gets used.

Jaba and Elasabrat your blocks are so pretty!
Wyldwytch, thank you for clarifying for me! I like the idea of going a shorter time! I just have to decide how I want to do this and what fabrics I want to go with...scrappy...not...controlled scrappy...spring...summer...fall...Christmas...hmm m...guess I best get to busy and decide huh? Will be out of town through New Years, but will be able to catch up quickly when I get home...and maybe I'll find some fabric that needs a new home while we're on our last trip of the year?

Happy New Years Everyone!

sewnso its fun to chat with other quilters. I find the postings inspiring and seeing the follow along is really great to keep me going on a project. I distract easily so being sorta on a timeline helps me incredibly. A new block this week? better get it done otherwise its a one day I will do it and that day never comes. I am excited to decimate my little pieces of Christmas fabrics. I think always one day I might use that or its too good to throw away and I stare at the 10 x 4 piece and think what the heck are you going to use it in? THIS PROJECT is excellent for that. Yipppeee!!!! I love you guys by the way. I come home to cats who well dont chat much a hubby who is working or too pooped for company and quilting is my sanity .. coming here is a grand place to be a tiny bit goofy and not worry about the real world too much. I am loving this. I might add a block while I wait for the start of the adventure. they are gracing my sewing table now to keep the yahoo part up with me

Ok, I am in, finished the first weeks blocks. I opted to do both blocks, am going to end up with 2 throw sized blankets when done. I plan to do "quilt as you go" method so that I can practice some different techniques. My goal in the end is to have 2 throws done for charity.

This is particular quilt as you go method I am using: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUn8ffH-vh8

The easy blocks I plan on doing a midnight quilt style,

I used the greek key decorative stitch from my machine in black to quilt this, then added some stitch in the ditch around the black areas.

for the challenging blocks, I plan to do a black/white with orange accents:

I used the serpentine with bows decorative stitch from my machine in orange to quilt this, I did it in an X pattern

Most black/white quilts you see use either pink or red as the accent, I chose to mix things up and used a very bright orange batik.

ohhh, i like those blocks. and i like the way you show us how a quilt made completely out of those blocks would look. sounds like this is going to be a real nice time.

if you ladies are caught up, there is a mystery quilt with the first glue being given tomorrow morning, oh, mid morning, here in michigan , by paintmejudy, i think is her member i.d. it will be in the BOM section. her last one was called 'judys 3rd mystery quilt.' and it turned out realllllly, realllly nice. and fun. she gives a new clue every saturday morning.

Carolyn, I love your blocks! I like the blue/black best.. It is very striking. But I also like how you've taken a typically Halloween color scheme and made it not Halloweenish at all!! Very nice work! I am very interested in the quilt as you go method.. But a little scared to try it!
