    And it's not a train!

    I got my daughter's quilt center put together and it fits! Whew! I'm proud of myself. Maybe some day I'll brave a Lone Star quilt again but next time with a pattern.

    Three borders left. A 2" white inner, a 3" dark mid, and a medium 5" outer border.

    The next quilt is queued up and ready when this one is finished, maybe next week.

    My style is taking a quilt without a pattern and trying to figure out how I would make it. This I found online without a pattern and this is how I would make it.

    White fabric for sashings/borders = 1 5/8yd
    C1=.25yd
    C2=.25yd
    C3=.25yd
    C4=.25yd
    outer color border = .25yd

    On the 5.5" square, sew a 1.5" x 5.5" strip to each side. Then sew a 1.5" x 7.5" strip to the top and bottom to form a 7.5" square.

    I want to thank everyone for their comments on the last entry. I have been taking notes and did see Jordan fabrics tutorial on the Lone Star to get an idea how to do the half square triangles instead of Y seams.

    I stopped procrastinating and brought the quilt off the design wall to trim the HST on the points and sew the points together. I then squared up each square before sewing the four squares together. I didn't have a square ruler big enough so I relied on my mat's measurements. ...

  4. Most difficult quilt to date

    by , 07-25-2019 at 07:36 AM
    I seem to have breezed through a tumbler quilt where not every piece fit perfectly, wine country queen bed quilt where I learned that steam is your friend and foe with batik, and a few other pieces. My current quilt project is giving me fits and I'm not going to let it win!

    It's my daughter's turn to receive a quilt and she chose a wall hanging picture of a variation to a lone star. I went to creating it in my computer without a pattern. I looked at many tutorials and needed to enlarge ...
