I have always wondered how to figure out how much give to have in a quilt hanging sleeve. I will have to look for the video again, on youtube, but there were some great directions there.

Basically, cut a 8" wide piece of fabric the appropriate length for the quilt to be hung. Fold wrong sides together and press along the long side.

Fold each end in and stitch so there will be a finished edge on both ends.

Now, flip the fabric so the right sides are together and sew a 1/4" seam along the long edge.

Now when you turn it right side out and re-establish the folded edge, one side is smaller than the other. The smaller side goes down onto the quilt and is stitched on the top and bottom. She recommends stitching the lower piece on each end too so no one will be able to put a hanging rod up against the quilt.

Somehow, without having done this yet, these directions seemed confusing when I was typing them - so look for the video and don't count on my memory for the directions.

I can hardly wait to try this ...
