I am very excited to close my quilt shop - hopefully next month. I chose a poor location in an area with less than optimal advertising opportunities. To NOT have to pay rent and utilities will be a dream come true! I have sat in this shop for over a year and a half with rarely a quilter coming through the door and the local guild snubbing me. I won't have a going out of business sale. I am going to take my act on the road and do shows and hopefully get my website up and functional.
I can't wait to set up my sewing studio at home. My daughter helped me do a preliminary sort of the fabric at home and 4 large garbage bags of fabric and scraps walked out the door and to a guild that does mostly charity quilts. 2 large bags of garbage wandered out behind the fabric bags. I can't wait to clean out the rest of the paper craft pile up!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear your quilt store will no longer be in business. But, I'm glad it is the right move for you at the right time.

A couple of ladies on the SC/NC border closed their shop after many years and now do guild workshops/trunkshows and regular quilting shows, etc. They love the freedom and so do their hubbies. I hope this is the start of a great adventure for you. Keep us posted on website. Carly in SC

I just realized this morning that I'm starting a new chapter in my life with so many possibilities. We packed up the youngest today and moved her to her first apartment. She and her fiance plan a court house wedding in the next week and a tropical reception in a few months. I'm very excited for her. Her sister moved in with us temporarily and has already reorganized the pantry and had me do a preliminary sort of my soom to be sewing/crafting space. 4 big bags of fabric out the door to a friend then to a guild for charity quilts. I feel lighter already

Good for you Karen, sounds like you will make delicious lemonade out of what some call lemons. Enjoy the shows and I'm very happy you won't have the weight of the store

My husband set up my storage unit into a mini quilt shop. so cute. It will be easy to pull fabrics for kits and shows. I'm still working on clearing out the store ( exhausting!) I hauled a bunch of stuff to a consignment shop (recently opened by another quilt shop owner's daughter). Today and I'm confused about what I should charge for new quilting books.I'd appreciate any ideas.
