Have been waiting less than patiently since we got to Florida for my new-to-me Janome 1600p to arrive. She came today, while I was out shopping for fusible thread. She is beautiful, and I think her name is Lydia, for my aunt Lydia who could sew like a dream. I still remember when Mom tried to make a reversible wool coat. One side was leopard--this was the 60's. She got stuck, packed it up in a box, sent it to Lydia to try to turn the lapels correctly. It came back all done, including buttons and buttonholes. So, yes, Lydia she will be.

Update: she now has pretty accessories--the extension table, the walking foot (and it is an expensive little toy), darning foot with throat plate, narrow and regular straight stitch feet with throat plate--oh joy, to not have the feed dogs eat my small pieces--, two zipper feet (well, maybe if I make an iPad cover), foot to sew leather, foot for napped fabrics.
