I'm planning on making a quilt for my granddaughter and wanted to applique her name on the back of the quilt. I want the letters to be fairly tall and fat- am thinking 8 or 9 inches tall. Has anyone done this or have tips about how to do this? Any suggestions on how to make the letters? Right now I'm planning on making the letters free hand. Just wondering if this is a good idea.

I've never tried it, but if you are handy with the computer, try looking for a font you'd like to use in a word processing application like "Word". Increase the size of the font to fill the page, one letter per page, print the page, and cut it out. Use it as your template. I would only try one to see if it's something you really want to do.
