I have ooooohed and awed over several recently viewed D9P and marveled at the intricate looking recreations. And then I remembered the passed along blocks from another crafter that have been sitting in a tote gathering energy to become something. Perhaps instead of getting lost in the how to disappear my 9 patches , I should just revisit the simple quilts that I helped my grandmothers make. Simple blocks using whatever we had left drom school clothes or from making over a "hand me down" dress, lights and darks, pastels and primaries. We pieced the blocks and put them together in pleasing quilt tops which were then either tied or quilted before going into the closet or drawer to be brought out and lovingly given to the newest mother with tiny baby in the neighborhood or family. I have decided to make one 9 patch baby quilt for donation and to stockpile 9 patch blocks to be made into tops as I have time. As I recall we used 2 1/2 or 3 inch blocks to make our 9 patches. So I can precut and assemble blocks as I go.I think probably I will do 2 1/2 inch blocks. Sometimes simple is the way to go.
