Matthew was officially diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Blue Cell Cancer on Wednesday(4/25).

This is a quote from his father, which I have permission to share:

"Well we have our answer. It's Desmoplastic small round blue cell tumor. It is an extremely rare (the oncologist says its the type of tumor that should be written about). It is an aggressive form of cancer that usually starts in the abdomen. The fact that he got it in his head and apparently as of now no where else is good in that it's spread rate/growth is quick and from the abdomen it spreads faster which is why it's difficult to cure. They got all the tumor from his head (as far as the cat scans show) so they like that. He will have aggressive chemo for a year and most likely radiation after that. His team is going to tackle this thing head on. He is getting a broviak (port for chemo and procedures) in his chest next tuesday and a pet scan, bone marrow, and another spinal tap to rule out rogue cells. MRI's every three months. Please continue to pray for recovery and for his spirits to stay high. He has pretty much charmed everybody he has met over the last month with his smile and spirit. Matthew is our gift from God and we will beat this! Pray loud and often! I will be setting up a facebook page later tonight and updating the caring bridge site by the weekend."

I can share the facebook page, if anyone is interested. We are allowed to add anyone who wants to be part of the prayer circle and wants updates.
