  1. Should I have a batting for my quilt?

I recently found out that my good friend was diagnosed with leukemia. I wanted to make him a quilt to keep him warm and cozy, but I'm not sure how thin/thick the quilt should be. I read online that even the touch of a sheet could be painful to chemo patients, so therefore I should make a thin quilt that has no batting but has a fleece backing. 2. Warm Batting

I have been searching he post and there are a lot of post but not finding anything specific to the warmth of batting. Someone suggested adding a layer of flannel. Sounds like it may work. Im wondering if using fleece would be any warmer than traditional batting. I use a walking foot to quilt and have been using Warm and Natural. Great for a summer quilt but not really warm. Any suggestions. Please if you don't mind mention the brand.

I went out around 9:00 a.m. this morning. Went to JoAnn's to get fabric for the binding on the Christmas Cat Wall Hanging/Door Decoration (used some coupons and saved more than I spent with all the markdowns on the fleece I bought), then I went to the Bernina Sewing Connection to pick up my Singer 301 that was in for a tune-up and wire check. Did my grocery shopping and got home just in time for lunch.

I'm ready to go into the sewing room and try to make a fleece scarf boa like ...
