Default 16 fabric circles equals 1 Christmas tree

Thank you all for your comments and requests to put up a tutorial on my little Christmas tree. For one tree you will need the following - a variety Christmas fabric scraps, paper spike, embellishments of your choice (not overly large as they will look out of proportion with the tree), general purpose glue (one that can be used for metal), squeeze bottle of glitter, knitting needle.

I used the following sizes and traced around them. Each size needs 4 of each hence the 16 circles.

When all cut out just turn under 1/4" hem and do a running stitch (this can be done either by hand or machine)

Now pull in the running stitch and adjust gathers evenly. When happy just tie off the thread ends and clip close to the edge.

Now this is where the knitting needle is used. Use the flat end to gently push out the circle to get it nice and round.

To place the circles on the spike turn them so that the gathers face you like in the photo below

When they are placed on the spike, adjust them, glue on your top star or whatever you choose, then use the squeeze bottle around the edges to represent tinsel and if you wish you could glue on some small beads etc as decorations.

Where did you get the spike on the base?

Very nice! I've seen smaller versions that are Christmas ornaments. They had a tiny decorative spool at the bottom to look like the trunk of the tree. The yoyos were held together with thread and I think there was a little bell on top.

I, too, have made smaller ones using an empty spool for the base (trunk). I'm most curious also, as to what you used for the base and center? Please share....
