Dolphyngyrl- I have a cat who gives love bites but he can be a bit aggressive- he's a big cat and doesn't seem to be aware of his strength. I know what you mean.
He always does it when I'm petting him- he's all lovey and all of a sudden he strikes LOL

LOL she's just like mine! I agreed with the vet to clip her nails quite often so she can't hurt me that much. Sometimes she scratches my face too. I too have a bottle of peroxide handy.

Yes! Especially bites. I have gotten cellulitis from a cat bite and had to go to a doctor for antibiotics. They warned me that if I didn't come in right away for this infection (it was a Saturday that I called to ask about the small red lump), it could rapidly progress to a need for hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics.

my friends cat would bite onto her hand but not hard. my friend would just leave her hand still until the cat let go. She had lost her husband recently and the cat missed him terribly. she quit biting now and never bit me,only insisted on sitting in my lap all the time. i tend to keep my hands away from her anyway.
i would suggest you grab her by the back of her neck, like a mamma cat would, and hold onto her awhile. talking to her all the time then let go and pet her. hopefully she will get the idea you are head "cat" and leave you alone.
also, when bitten say "ouch, ouch, ouch" over and over. my older cat got the idea he was hurting us and never did it again.

Also if she doesn't like being petted in a certain area or manner, don't pet her there or that way.

Get a toy on a stick and play for ten minutes a day. Or, teach her to fetch. Exercise helps.

We had one of those. We rescued him and he seemed ungrateful! He would sit on my lap and for no apparent reason bite me. We did the above, and that did help. Sometimes I could sense he was getting ready and I would just stand up and dump him.
