This issue has come up before. There is a "possible" solution on the last page. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-96432-1.htm Oh, and btw, malware programs do not get rid of it.

try using Firefox with AdBlocker Plus. All free and I never get popups or banner ads on this site.

I use Google Chrome for my browser, no pop ups and no sites load that has a virus or spyware attached. You need a registry cleaner to get rid of most spyware. The best cleaner and tune up used by most computer fix it places is called Tune Up. You can use if free for 30 days to fix your computer and then if you like it buy it. An ex Best Buy computer guy told me use it before buying a new computer.

I use Firefox and it also will do a spell check as I'm typing. I love this browser. I never use internet explorer any more.

My computer has Windows Vista with Explorer. When you click on "Tools" on the top Menu bar, there is an option to turn "Pop up blocker" on or off. I keep mine on off, & only turn it on when it's something I know I want to see.

I barely get to read one discussion and there it is showing it's ugly face again and again and again. Please help. I do have an antivirus and pop up blocker on my computer and this is the only site that this is happening on. :-(

Mine works this way also...

I don't get any pop up's at all... I have Norton Internet Security and it seems to take care of everything. Maybe you should shut down your computer and reboot it, or do get a mal ware program and run it to take out something like that. Check your tools on internet, and your pop ups, you can add sites that you don't want to recieve pop ups from, and you can add the quilting board, and that may take care of it

I never get any popups but then I think my norton takes care of a lot of problems like that and I am sure my hubby has one of those programs that prohibits them.

I had the same thing happening with a porn site with the same response from the quilting board administrators. I called my computer geek friend and was told to download two free programs...Adaware by Lavasoft and Spybot. I did, and it got rid of most of the problem, but not all. I searched my 'programs' list from my start menu (where it lists all the programs but you don't have to go to 'programs' on your C drive) and found a new Antivirus that was a fake. I deleted it and all is well. The culprit is a program that tries to make you think it is protecting your computer. At least, that was what was happening in my case.

Your anti virus probably is not going to fix this.....i sounds more like adware or malware......and there are free downloads that will remove those.....I am in VA and do not have that problem on this site. You do have to be very careful with using links
