I made mine with 10 inch squares. Fits my cereal bowls just fine.

I just try to fit whatever bowl I want it for. I also do some flatter to fit a plate. Those work well too.

I made them for my coworkers Christmas gifts couple year ago. Used a layer cake and just made them all up. Good way to practice FMQ. Great size. Girls all seemed to enjoy them. I still see several around office at lunchtime!

Related question? Are these better than wrapping a towel around a hot item or using a hot pad? What about a bowl cozy you like better than using a general purpose item?

love bowl cozies--make it so easy to carry a hot bowl to the table from the microwave. And they work nicely to protect your hands when that bowl is just too hot to touch. I make mine 10" cause that is what fits my bowls best.

I like to use 11 for warming things in microwave. I do 10 also for smaller bowls.

Most of mine are 10" but I have made a few that are larger. We use ours every single day!

do you heat the item in the cozy or use the cozy after taking item out of microwave? I just have a small shrunken pot holder under mine, but getting hot bowl out is sometimes not fun.
